Well, I'm not much of a pixel peeper but I took a quick look at f2.8 f8 & f22

I think both are equally sharp up to f8 but #1 provides a little more contrast which could be interpreted as more detail I suppose. At f22 though #1 is quite soft.

#2 seems worse for chromatic aberration. #1 has some sharp ca at f2.8 but is almost clear at f8 & f22, #2 has substantial diffused ca at f2.8 which is somewhat lessened at f8 but quite sharp in the high contrast areas & still present at f22.

I'm not going to comment on bokeh as I don't think this test frame is the best to judge & it's subjective as ever anyway.

If it were my choice and all other things were equal, I'd go for #1 as it provides more contrast & less CA. Unless you shoot at f22 alot of course, in which case the softness of #1 would be off-putting & maybe you need to find a #3 ?

edit: Disclaimer, I didn't even notice page 2 so these are from the first set of samples.

Abstracts can be hit & miss I find, & someone's "hit" may be anothers "miss".

I like the varying depths of shadow & the triangular shapes but something about the overall composition isn't hitting me quite right Pauly. It may be the divide between foreground & background shapes being a little too central & then again it may be something completely different.

Sorry, I haven't been much help, have I ?

Another brilliant composition Pauly. Next time I come to London I'm gonna look you up to help me look up !

The 10-17mm actually focuses closer, so much so that you gotta be careful when closing in on something whilst looking through the viewfinder !

Only half a dozen versions..

Did you take any other shots today ?

I'm not sure I'd trust one point of attachment that could easily be unscrewed. Plus the last thing I need is to appear MORE nerdy whilst walking around with my camera !

I use a neoprene camera strap & it has a little elasticity which helps cushion the load whilst walking, far more comfortable than the supplied webbed strap.

Lovely colours. I think you're right, the wet pavestones make this shot.

I think you've ended up with a far more dramatic shot Mike, I'd try and lessen the depth of the shadows in the foreground now, but in all the picture now has more impact.

Would be good to get a wide spread of opinion though.

I think you'll find that a B&W conversion of the latest image will also look alot less flat, just to drag this thread back on topic

It's a process I've been playing with, but I generally desaturate a little more & cross process colours. I've got an application in mind for the technique so I'm having a play around.

You can duplicate a layer in the "layer" menu at the top, then experiment with layer modes.

Bob

I like that last version, but then I'm a sucker for contrast & I'm sure many will disagree.
