Possibly, but not necessarily. If I had to raise a grumble about Pentax, it would be that their lens range stops at 300mm.

(Oh and possibly the K20 body cap :twisted
Hi Roger,

What is the problem with the body cap?

Peter.

After a mix up that saw my K-7 sold by the store to somebody else, I finally managed to get mine. Unfortunately, I can't really go out and try it (play with it), since we've had thunderstorms all afternoon. Life is so unfair...

Hello Larry,

No worries mate, you can get them from Park Cameras, the Fuji Film ones are great, and if you're nice they even fit them for you, saves you having to get the air bubbles out!

Peter.

What's your DA choice for landscape work, and what lens/lenses, do you take on vacation?
There tends to be no difference to my photography whether on vacation or not, so the usual kit is:

SMC Pentax-DA 12-24mm
SMC Pentax-DA 16-45mm
SMC Pentax-FA 50mm f1.4
SMC Pentax-DA 55-300mm

Sue uses the SMC Pentax-DA 18-250mm most of the time, but also the 50mm and the SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm Macro.

You will notice that none of these are primes apart from the 50mm.

If I did go for a set of primes it's difficult to get the right set, but it might have to be 31mm - 43mm - 77mm. This leaves a problem at the wide angle end and I think I end up still needing the 12-24mm.
Thanks John,

I have the K20D with the DA 18-55mm II, and also the DA 55-300mm, so it looks like I might need the DA 12-24mm at some later stage.

Peter.

In the early days of SLR photography the classic 3 lens kit would have been 35mm - 50mm - 135mm, by the late 1960s it would have been 28mm - 50mm - 135mm.

My choice was the slightly different 24mm - 50mm - 100mm.

If we still only used primes, where do you think our choice would lie these days?
Hi John,

Hello everyone!

Remember me? Unlocker's other half? As you may know I stupidly broke my ankle whilst we were on honeymoon back in February (please see numerous photos of my foot in the Photos section if you're unsure!)

For months, I have either not been able to get out and about to take photos, or haven't had the mobility to get into the right position to take a shot (crouching etc.) This has been very frustrating for me, and as such I have stayed away from the forum. It's nothing to do with you guys (you're great!) I just haven't felt that I could contribute because I couldn't take the photos I wanted to take.

Anyway, enough depression - yesterday Unlocker and I went to Claydon House (Bucks) where I walked without crutches for the first time, and also managed to take the photos I wanted to take. So, I feel confident enough to share my thoughts and photos with you now. So I'm back... I'll count to 10 so you can run and hide!

P.S. I will post some photos that I took at Claydon when I get home from work tonight!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and wishes during my difficult recovery, I may not have been on here actively, but I have read your comments and it's been a real encouragement.

Fiona
Hi Fiona,

Glad you're back,
look forward to seeing the pics,

Regards,
Peter.

Alright that is a new USB stick by Buffalo and it's 16GB!
So I thought, it would be great if you could connect a usb storage device to the camera and that the camera could transport the photos on the SD-card to the USB device.

Not very handy while shooting of course but with vacations you're a week or more from home and such simple feature should be perfect to copy the photos you made and store them on a cheap USB-stick or external hard-drive instead of using multiple SD-cards or using a laptop.

I think this is very feasible for a DSLR to do these days, they are already half a computer.
Do someone know if this is already be done... maybe I should pantent the idea
Hi Stefan,
As there is no facility to connect the SD card to the USB port, I don't think that it's feasible.
Sorry, but you will have to use a dongle and a laptop on your holidays, or like me, load up with a 16 Gig SDHC card!

(32 Gig cards are now available, from the 7 Day shop)

I have a K20D, with the DA 18-55mmII, and also the DA 55-300mm lens.
Has anyone used these lenses at a wedding with the K20D,did you use a tripod for the 55-300mm, or did you hand hold?
What results were obtained, and what was the picture quality like?

Is it really a must to get another lens for wedding shots, or will my present lens set up give really good results?

Thank you for your feedback, i am not new to photography i had my 100d for about 18months...I probably did not explain properly.

the 50d has a facility for taking in JPEG+RAW or just raw or jpeg I can understand the later two as this was also on the 100d what i
wanted to know is what is the advantage of having a facility for taking
both JPEG+RAW. together, surly you would only want one or the other why both? I would like to know if any of you use this system (raw+jpeg) and if so what advantage you get from it.
Also there are times that things crop up that are not mentioned in the instruction book, that is why i asked is there anything that i need to be wary of..... thank you for your time
Hi,
I shoot in Raw & JPEG, as the image can be edited in Raw format using Lightroom, but the images shot in JPEG can be shown via the USB port on my Sony Bravia television.(JPEG's only on the TV!)

So yes there is a need for both, or just RAW, or just JPEG.

Peter
