Lenses for weddings

I have a K20D, with the DA 18-55mmII, and also the DA 55-300mm lens.
Has anyone used these lenses at a wedding with the K20D,did you use a tripod for the 55-300mm, or did you hand hold?
What results were obtained,and what was the picture quality like?

Is it really a must to get another lens for wedding shots, or will my present lens set up give really good results?

Hi Roscoe I've got a sigma 50-150mm lens that i'm planning to use for weddings in the future which is a lovely lens'constant f2.8 .

The DA55-300mm would be fine' the use of a tripod would depend on what type of day it was.There are other lenses out there that could do the job better than the 55-300mm say the 50-135mm or the 60-250mm(i want one).

But they are vastly more expensive so it's up to your budget

If the wedding is inside, your lenses largest opening will still likely be to small. If outside, then it should do. As far as tripods are concerned, they are to cumbersome to use for a wedding. You have to move fast and be ready in a blink, so the tripod is a nuisance. If you are thinking of using a flash to compensate for the small opening of your lenses, just remember that some places like churches often forbid flashes during the actual wedding. I like the 31mm. and 77mm. lenses for wedding. The 14-f2.8 comes in handy for group shots. And I use the 50-135 when I need some more reach. I never needed anything with more reach than the 135 for a wedding.
