OK but what's different.
All electronic connection to new lenses, no mechanics involved - I think, except retained for older lenses.

On the Sigma production line the lens is assembled and the last item fitted is the mount for Sigma, Canon or Nikon, all having fully electronic connections. For a Pentax version they have needed a special production run I am told which interrupts the main flow of work, so for a relatively small market this is uneconomic. I am no technician but I wonder whether the K4 version of the Pentax mount without mechanical links means it would be possible to attach it in the same way as the others?

Hello everyone, I'm coming to you from Ontario Canada. I am on my 2nd Pentax, a K 30. Just an entry level camera, but I like it.
No such thing as an entry level Pentax! What you have is far better than the state of the art pro DSLRs from ten years ago when they were raving about 12mp and 1600 iso, so enjoy.

And as for Ansel Adams, I wonder if he would still think that if he had been able to get hold of a modern DSLR instead of lugging that heavy wooden plate camera about!

Wow fantastic shot
Seconded! The only shots I have of bees is them buzzing out the frame, they seem to anticipate the shutter by half a second, so well captured.

The new review here indicates the incremental changes are ok but not worth upgrading from a K-1 for.

I still don’t get this obsession that only one system will prevail, the newbie killing off the older system. Both have a place and each is better at some things than the other so you choose what works for you. The technology of mirrorless might be improving but you have to keep buying new models to benefit. And this company size thing? Is the production of third party lenses the bellwether for a company’s health? How many lenses do Sigma make for Leica and Hasselblad? None, and I don’t suppose they are losing sleep over it. And Pentax’s stated aim for its new lenses is that they outperform Sigma Art lenses so who needs them.

No you don’t, try Gtech! Absolutely brilliant. On the leaky car theme, when I was dating my wife-to-be she complained her feet got wet in her Renault 4 whenever it rained. Shut your flap! I said. (The car had vent flaps below the windscreen of which she was blissfully unaware).

Historically Canon, Nikon, Pentax were manufacturers of optically based camera equipment whilst Sony and Panasonic have their roots in electronics - TVs, video recorders and all the other fads which came and went like Walkmans, and are treating the photography business in the same way; just another disposable fad. They rely on the likes of Zeiss to produce decent glassware. Olympus, Leica and Fuji have an optical heritage but in compact rangefinder models so it makes sense for them to embrace mirrorless. The electronics giants are going to push hard for their sector to expand but for me a company with a strong optical heritage wins every time. The electronics can be bought in but photography relies more on the design and quality of its optical components; anyway years ago I had a Sony TV and it was rubbish so I am biased!
