They come out of Tamron's factory in Japan, apparently. Pentax probably helped Tamron with the weather sealing; I would be surprised if the weather sealing on the Pentax and Tamron variants differed. Not sure how lens based SR degrades image quality - you can turn it off. Having it in body is better but that's nothing to do with the lens really.
The Pentax WR is frequently more extensive than the Tamron, and requires more seals to achieve. My point about SR is that in lens it needs extra glass in a floating field, which is more glass for the light to pass through. Even if switched off the mechanism is vulnerable to vibration.
Anyway, I for one will be interested in an f4 70-200mm as it will be lighter and more compact than the f2.8.

NOT AGAIN!! How many times must it be said the Pentax is NOT a rebranded Tamron. Tamron make some lenses for Pentax under licence but to Pentax’s specifications which explains the similarity of configuration. Read the facts and compare the specifications - lens coatings? WR? Those are why the Pentax cost more not just the badge. And not having SR in the lens will improve image quality as well.

Nicely played, Lennybloke! When I read this article it put serious doubts about whether I should go ahead with the internal upgrade of my K1, and still unsure. The ISO performance should also be apparent at say 800, not just the silly levels everyone says they don’t need so I would be interested to see how that pans out. I am attracted by the improved autofocus more than anything else though.

As a kid I mounted my Agfa Silette on a slider on a tripod, took a transparency at each end. Fixed a pair of simple slide viewers together like binoculars and viewed the results in 3D. Simples!

I came across this technique while looking for a workaround to use with my Samyang 14mm. I can't afford a 150mm filter system, so this looks like it might be worth playing with.

It's a technique that's also used for star trails. You take multiple exposures and blend them. Say you have 10 x 3-second exposures, that's a 30 second long exposure shot after blending. If your camera has multiple exposure mode, it can all be done in camera. If you want to go beyond ten shots, you could use the intervalometer and process them yourself.

Wouldn't it be nice if this could be automated as a mode in your camera? You could tell it the length of exposure you wanted, and then it could calculate and fire off the number of shots required and process the result in-camera for you.
It can in the K1! It’s called interval composite mode where you set the number of exposures and their frequency and it blends in camera.

First one is good, and I like the foursquare composition of the second, the black frame is a nice touch.

I only asked as I went the Nisi S5 route, no colour caste from the little stopper or med grad, have to wait till the big stopper gets here to say whether there is any caste from that. Lovely shots
Just after I bought the big stopper Lee introduced a ‘pro’ range which coats the surface rather than colouring the glass, so avoiding colour cast and the vignetting on very wide angle lenses - at a cost of course! In PP I found about 6000k put it right and I read somewhere that setting the colour temperature in the camera at that figure makes it right in camera; one more thing to remember when setting up though.

Thanks again everyone for kind comments, it was interesting stimulation to be given a project (I originally thought it was for a calendar) rather than just snapping away for my own fun, I look forward to more opportunities.

These are excellent, perfect focus and timing. That remote trigger looks handy.

What filter system did you go for ?
Lee Filters SW150 big stopper plus a polariser although with light behind me I don’t think it had a lot of effect. The big stopper gives a very blue cast but easily resolved in Lightroom by changing the white balance.
