We are having the house decorated at the moment. I am tasked with replacing the 13A sockets/light switches/downlighters etc. I have spent the last two days crawling through narrow loft spaces; eating dead wasps as they fall when I remove the old lights; rewiring a telephone extension while balancing a torch under my arm.

I want to get out with my camera but don't have the energy to lift it.
Sounds like you need a head torch, which also happens to be handy for night photography!

The strap itself is made from the same material as a car safety belt, or something very similar, and the padded section Is just a thickened part so no friction surfaces. The padded part is quite stiff and cannot be rolled up but flexible enough, and the whole strap feels reassuringly strong. Also it doesn’t get twisted like a standard strap. The connectors are tested to more than adequate strength and the cords apparently have a different coloured core so it is more obvious if they have frayed; I have never yet had a problem but carry a couple of spares in case. I use a Peak Design stud connector with a standard screw for attaching to the lens tripod mount.

I love the products from this company, really well engineered and thought through, and with several thousand pounds worth of kit hanging off it I don’t think this is something to economise on.

Here is how the Peak Design configuration works (shot in a mirror):

I suppose that makes sense if you think about the mechanics involved. Always switch off SR when using a tripod which, if using a 2 sec delay it does anyway.

For carrying the long lens+body I have fitted Peak Design quick release catches to the camera and lens foot, and clip one end of a Peak strap to the body and the other to the lens foot. That way you can sling it all over your shoulder with the mount rotated 90 degrees and it rests comfortably on your hip, and not worry about straining the mount. When done I clip on the standard Pentax strap to the camera.

If you use an Arca Swiss monopod head I think you can get a Peak Design quick release plate for the lens foot to which can be attached a catch.

Not if you find a niche where businesses are prepared to pay well for the best results; the best photos in magazines are often paid for by the company featured - think high end watches, cars, interiors. Weddings etc are an overcrowded market and such fields are normally paid from private money so the budget is a major consideration; a commercial client will normally have a bit more leeway if the results raise the company’s profile.

Just looked in to the Classified forum and note the the number of views an item has had is no longer visible. I find this inconvenient as I usually look at items with no views on the chance of snagging a bargain. I feel this has degraded the classified so doubt I'll bother with it again.
I don’t get the point, views reflect curiosity not intent. If you want something then make an offer, sometimes a member needs the cash but don’t set out to exploit their situation.

Hard to pick a favourite as I like them all, but special to me are the atmospheric night scenes of Edinburgh and they remind me of the Ian Rankin novels. Looking forward to some more.
