I follow Elena Shumilova on Flickr, worth a look for truly original images. I think she just uses two prime lenses on a FF body, a 50mmf1.2 and mostly an 85mm f1.4. The lesson here is spend your money on a couple of top quality primes to suit what you do.

These are really beautiful. The lovely subdued colours of the books and joinery work really well together. Now if you had a DFA* 50mm f1.4 lens........!

And interesting that the new lenses are being designed for future camera developments, a hint perhaps of yet higher megapixel sensors?

Optically, how do * lenses compare with Limited lenses? I am still drawn to those.

Did anyone else try one out at TPS? Hard to test in such an environment but the focus was very quick and quiet, and maybe because I am used to the 24-70mm it didn’t feel especially heavy. With the K1 and mark II it should be exceptionally good in lower light levels where you would use a tripod anyway; I am struggling to think where I would justify this lens but then I don’t do much in the way of studio work. I do recall when the 645Z MF came out it was targeted specifically at the wedding market so I wonder whether this lens is similarly intended for interior and outside wedding shots.

For that price it will have to be the best performing 50mm lens in the world...bar none.

The Global market for it must only be a few hundred per year.

Very risky game Pentax are playing...they seem to be targeting their new lenses at Pro and Enthusiasts with very deep pockets...not enough of them though.
That is exactly what they should be doing, and you are wrong about numbers - why else are other brands expanding their full frame and now medium format offerings? Pentax has a good range of different priced lenses and it makes sense to offer top spec products designed for higher mp sensors as well.

Not interested in gardening ..... That's something we have in common! The only difference for me though is that there's no one else living here who's interested in it either! I have to rely on occasional bought bunches of flowers for my photography. But then my wife always says "well thanks, they're nice, but I know you just bought them for your hobby!" (cue dismissive look that says. "what a waste of time all that photography is, taking flowers for nothing".) I can only make up for it by then taking photos of the kids ....

You've got some gentle colours here, nice yellows and peaceful looking greens. As usual with flowers it's the ones taken in the shade that are better, the diffussed light really helps.
Maybe give it a try, get the kids involved and they will retain it for life. I remember the amazement on my granddaughter’s face when I picked peas on my allotment, popped the pods and gave her some to eat. Try some wildlife planting, even a small pond, you would be amazed what visits. See if you wife is willing to join in as well! And you could even take some photos.

And a good job she’s making of it!

Mmm I get what you're saying.
I don't know about the Lee system but the nisi has adapters so the 150mm can be used on regular lenses too so you only need 1 system.
But there's no getting away from the size of any of the 150mm filters.
The Lee has adaptors too but they are quite deep collars which sleeve over the end of the lenses. I just looked at the Irix 15mm which has its own system, same size glass but just screws onto the front rather than a bulky fitting. I wonder if my Lee filters would fit?
