The idea of Pentax lens hire is something to look forward to as well as it might help those of us who suffer from LBA!
Will it just be Pentax lenses or third party lenses for hire as well?

I have been very pleased with the IQ of Pentax DSLR's and I noticed it the other day when I was looking at some images taken by a friend of mine using another brand, they just looked a little flat whereas mine seemed to jump out of the screen and were full of detail and colour.
My only criticism would be slow FPS which would concern me if I was to become Pro with my aviation photography but as I am just a keen amateur then the Pentax system suits my requirements and this is the only reason that I would not recommend them. Weather sealing, SR, compatibility with older lenses, etc are all positives in my view.
I was very close a few months ago in changing brands but will be staying put for the time being. My reasons being that I have invested heavily in the system and I now appreciate the quality of the images that Pentax DSLR's produce and the build quality and I have learnt to live with the slower FPS as some of my images have proved.
So I would agree with Stefan above in that you can recommend Pentax but it all depends on the subject matter.

I've just found my Dad's old PK-A 28mm F2.8 and tried it on my K-7...
I shot it at F2.8 as the light was fading otherwise I would have used a smaller aperture. I found it with a Hoya Skylight filter attached.
This is image straight out of the camera.
Doesn't look too bad

Looking around for a prime lens for views similar to those already posted as opposed to using telephotos to compress the surrounding.
Looks like the FA28 might be a good addition

He recently purchased a Seculine Digital Spirit level and has noticed that the batteries in the camera were not lasting as long as they have been. So he went into a J*****s store in Cental London and explained the situation to an assistant. After the assistant had given him a quizzical look he was told that "the spirit level takes energy from the camera even though it has its own battery supply" which I think is incorrect. The spirit level is attatched via the hotshoe connection on the K100D Super and as far as I know moving the camera to get a straight horizon would not deplete battery charge. If the spirit level was in the camera for example the Horizon Correction on the K-7 then I would accept their advice.
I have told him that I suspect he requires more powerful batteries. At the moment he is using Energizer 2100mAh and I have recommended other ones to him.
If I am wrong in my advice then perhaps someone on here can correct me but I suspect that the store in question is definitely wrong!

These images were taken using a K-7, DA*60-250mm and Metz 58 flash. I didn't have the best position for photography and this was my first sports event so C&C are most welcome!
Throughout the evening I used AF centre/auto and MF.
Before the evening started I spoke with the official photographer and in case anyone is interested he was using a D700 with a 24-70 lens.
The rest of Dave's photos are on my Flickr page.
