What I meant was that they come in different colours to according to the coating, for example I think the hoya blue label range are their basic filters, then the green label range, etc. Trouble is I think these frames are thicker than I would require.

Thanks Stefan. I know that they have different ranges, blue, green, etc. Should I go for the Digital range then?

Well yesterday I managed to win one of these on ebay in an excellent condition at a good price . I've read a lot about the performance of these lenses and it will probably end up as a Christmas pressie for my other half to use on her K20D when we go away in January. I'm trying to convince her that she would be better off with a K-7...that would also mean that I could use it as a second body for airshows next year

Anyway I'm looking for a filter either UV or Skylight and one that won't show much vignetting at the 16mm end if that can be avoided.

Has anyone got any recommendations of any particular brands that use thin frames that aren't that expensive?

My used 18-55mm MK2 is for sale at SRS at the moment -

18-55mm MK2

It's in a good condition with the box, etc and they give you 6 months warranty with that as well if you were thinking of a replacement lens.

Ah I see....apologies

Must admit I have the grip on mine more often than not. I find it balances the K-7 quite nicely, especially when I have many DA* lenses fitted.

Huw.
My grip is most of the time as well. However when I took the boxing match photos I didn't have the grip on the K-7 and I noticed the difference straight away, as Greytop says it does help with balance.

Have a look at the photos taken at the boxing match I went to last week -

I used the 60-250mm for these images and the AF wasn't brilliant but that may have been down to the low light at the venue.

I've used it a few airshows this year though and have been really pleased with it.

Dave got through to the final fight but the ref stopped it not long after the first round had started. He was caught unawares and hit the canvas not long after I took #4, he got up straight away but the ref wasn't happy with that. Up until that point he was doing really well and we all thought that he was going to win.

3rd one is the best for me. Great expression on his face!
Woops, I also meant the 4th pic . The expression I liked was the fierce one as he landed the body blow, not the rather dazed and gormless one when he's sitting in his corner
He looks like that at work anyway

Well on the K-7 the DNG files are compressed so are smaller in size than the PEF files. On the K20D the situation is reversed.

fourth one for me, terrific expression captured.
Did you capture RAW? seems a tad underexposed, you could easily sort it out. But I could be wrong, may be its just my impression, am no expert on this, I just go with the flow
Yes I used DNG and I was playing around with the settings on the flash and some of them throughout the night did seem lighter than others.
