Last year it was very much about Photo Books and that is one thing we want to look at again.

It is a good chance to look at camera bags, get free ones with magazine subscriptions (again...) and generally check out the things we don'y normally get to see in one venue.
Sorry John, I disagree, went last year with a shopping list of five items, one of which was TAMRAC, not there. I met the regional Manager of Tamrac later in the year at an exhibition in Lincoln, when I complained to him about the lack of presence at Focus he informed me that the NEC wanted his whole years budget to attend. Pentax by the way had a stand at the Lincoln exhibition, so I think Focus is becoming overrated.

Saturdays are off for me too, however, if you make it Sunday the 10th, it's my birthday and you can all bring me a cake!
If its your birthday, you can bring the cakes and the light liquid refreshment!!

I went to Focus On Imaging last year, Had a shopping list of five items to purchase. Totally disappointed with the exhibition, no Pentax Stand as usual, the largest two stands, surprise surprise, yes, Canon and Nikon. Apart from the usual crowd around Adobe, could not get near. I came away with my list intact!

Hefty is correct, sounds like a lens for a set of bellows and if it is, they are exceptional lenses - all you need now are some bellows!

Well chaps, my local camera shop, Carmarthen Camera Centre (Plug)has just been authorized to become a Pentax Pro Centre Dealer and is having a grand launch in March 2009, so come on down!! No signs here then of Pentax having problems.
However, I do feel that Pentax do not push themselves enough with advertising etc and the budgets that Canon, Nikon and Sony have by comparison, its no wonder Pentax is apparently falling by the wayside

The sources I've seen only refer to a Pentax announcement, not a new camera. It could be anything, from a new model, the K20D GPS update, or a new lens, roadmap, or even a business announcement.

GPS won't help with the theft of copyright - it can be removed from the exif just as your own copyright info can.
Just out of interest Gwyn, how do you remove information from the Exif.

My only advice when choosing your wide angle that suits you, do not consider a Sigma. I did and have regretted when I saw images from the Pentax. The clarity, definition and sharpness of the image taken by the Pentax was so superior to the Sigma. My Sigma is for sale, but I would be too embarrassed to offer it to a Pentax member.

I am probably going to get an ultra-wide angle zoom when I’m in the UK over Xmas. All the usual contenders have been considered – Pentax 10-17, 12-24 & Sigma 10-20 (Tamron 10-24 will come out too late). Initially was edging towards the Sigma, but as I’ve seen more images from the 12-24 I’ve tended to sway towards that. (Have just about ruled out the 10-17 principally because it doesn’t take filters and I use polarisers frequently). However, I’m beginning to wonder if it’s worth forking out £400+ to gain just 4mm on the 16-45 I have at present? (The 16-45 happens to be very good at 16 – much better than the kit lens wide). The 6mm increase represented by the Sigma is maybe more persuasive (though perhaps its performance from 10-12 detracts from its advantage over the Pentax?). On the other hand, the 4mm extra on the Pentax probably makes it a more practical zoom range once it’s on camera.

I’d welcome forum wisdom on this - and if anyone could post some shots at 10, 12, and 16 to give an impression of the how various fields of view impact on photos I’d be especially grateful.
