I have Pentax bellows mint condition, used it with the S1a screw thread and often wondered if you could change the screw mount for the K bayonet type?

I'll have you know Rees that our 'bumps' rise to 551' asl so that's not bad for a 'flat' county Where I live I can see Denmark on a clear day

Thanks for the welcome too but on what hill do you live?
We do not have hills in Wales Andrew!! There called Mountains!! and I live on the Cambrian Mountain OK

There is an old expression: If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys, or you get what you pay for. Then the expression, save for what you want applies. I purchased a Sigma, for my sins, EX DC 10 - 20mm wide angle lens, thought it was fine until I met a friend one day with a Pentax equivalent lens, we swopped lenses on like for like bodies, with like for like SD cards and the Pentax left the Sigma in the shade, I was totally disillusioned. I know there are some well known brand makers out there, like Sigma, I thought, but all I can advise is caution, save and save for the maximum quality lens, then when you have all funds, then decide carefully

Hopefully a quick query...

I'm thinking of purchasing a teleconverter for my airshow trips but how will they affect the images? For example with my K20 I normally use centre weighted metering and between +5/+1 EV and for propeller aircraft an ISO of 100 and a shutter speed of 1/350 or 1/500. For jets the ISO is 400 and shutter speed of 1/1000 The mode is always on TV.

Can someone explain to me that if I was to use a 2x TC then if I loose 2 stops of light how would I change the settings described above to obtain a correctly exposed image? Likewise if a 1.4x or 1.7x TC was used what would be the expected effect and how would I rectify this? I would probably be using a TC combined with a DA*300mm or a zoom lens up to 300mm.

Regards

Rob
Have a look at 'jackitec's' images in the gallery on Pentax PU website, as stated he uses the Kenko teleconverter and his images speak for themselves.

If you thought that deciding on a tripod was the most difficult part of photography, and because of this just plumped for a brand name that sounded good, like... Manfrotto... Which one would you choose?

Requirements are for a sturdy, heavy duty model with tilt and pan head, you know, not the ball joint type.

Budget irrelevant for this exercise.

Any favourites?

I would if I were in your position, Manfrotto are well over priced as can be seen by the discounts advertised.
I have used Slik tripods for thirty seven years, they are well made like Pentax, there must be a tripod in their range to suite you and I am confident you will not pay through the nose, furthermore, once you have used it, you'll wonder why you first wanted a Manfrotto I think sometimes its an image thing and we are all victims of advertising
