Regarding Jessops disappearance, bad news for all, in a Daily Telegraph article 25th April 09 David Adams is revamping the ailing dealership, with sales rising and their sponsors HSBC and Jessops are now in a process which is likely to end with a positive outcome. Jessops climb back started a few weeks ago with the London Oxford Street branch having a £300,000 refurbishment and is the likely blue print for further stores.
So as they say watch this space!

Language gentlemen please, I do not like the use of such expletives and in the words of those lovable Americans, "Its our ball, our bat and if we can't go first were not playing"
Bye.

If this is an abbreviation used here, we need to know what it stands for, this is part of the problem. An abbreviation should really only be used if it is an internationally recognized, accepted one.

Sorry about that Rees but it's quite a new word and used frequently now a days.
Maybe it might be a good idea to put all the terminology together in a list so that you can look it up.
I have often thought about doing this, there are so many strange words and in particular abbreviations used on this site I do not comprehend and it becomes very frustrating, you are the first one to reply to a question on clarifying such a term - thank you.
Let's make a list then, for someone totally new to photography they might be overwhelmed with them. DOF, OOF, Bokeh, Aperture, Shutter time, etc. Just simply a sort explanation what it is if they want to know more there are a lot of sites to go too for that.
I'm free today so will start making one.

Well Stefan
Using your examples above:
1. D.O.F I assume is "Depth of Field" - yes?
2. O.O.F. I do not know!
3. Bokeh (is this an abbreviation or an actual word?) means - not in focus beyond the depth of field - yes - or have I got that wrong.
4. Aperture - the setting on the lens that determines the amount of light through the hole (aperture).
5. Shutter Time - not sure what you mean here - do you mean shutter speed?
6. L.O.L This one is often used here on this site and I am clueless as to what it means?

You certainly get the green hexagon focus confirmation. i too have the beep turned off, but i am sure you would get that too.

You can even go further and use a manual focus lens in AF-S mode. You will find you cannot release the shutter unless the camera confirms the focus !

None of this is as good as using a split-prism focus screen though.
Where did you get your split-prism focus screen and was it difficult to fit? I would certainly be interested, I have them on some of my Pentax film bodies.

Thank you for responding John and I apologize for sounding so dull, but I cannot find/see the "Look at the Your Photos section.
You have at the top:
Pentax User:
Below:
Home, Magazine, News, Gallery, Forum, Shop, Community and to the right My Portfolio are. I have looked under all the sub-headings and cannot see/find "Your Photos" section, like I said sorry to appear so dull.
