I sent a report into IT who have advised that there was a problem.

All sorted now, though.

Thanks to all for responses/assistance.

In answer to 1, I've got a torch that has that pattern and colour of LED's, and it's passable to see by, but I would not try and take photo's using it as a light source.

That said, at £3.99 it's just over the price of a pint, so if you did take a punt it would not be the end of the world if you didn't find a use for it.

I would lay the blame squarley at the recent disproportionate price-hike of Pentax lenses. Some Pentax users suddenly find themselves with kit worth a great deal more than they paid for it; and decide to jump brands without having to start from scratch again.

That's my observation anyway.
Quite - my 10-17mm Fish-eye is now retailing at anything upto £450 and I paid under £300 for it. The Sigma 170-500mm I've noted as high as £930, which is almost double what I paid.

Why is there such a hike in Pentax prices - anyone know?

T9 is brilliant. It's like learning to ride a bike. You got to trust it. I'm writing in T9 now, and its as easy as typing. And it makes you type the correct spelling or it doesn't recognise the word. Get it wrong, and you have to back up and start again. This is why text-speak is dying out.

Perhaps people with bad experiences of T9 just can't spell very well!
"O" Level Grade B in English Language - I think I can spell, thanks.

Quite, John.

I had a mobile before the T9 protocol was established (lets remember that SMS was a by-product of the GSM standard and T9 was some time behind that) and had to spell messages for myself. Since then I've made a point of turning off the predictor on every handset I've had.

Now I have a BlackBerry with a QWERTY keypad which will correct typos as I go, but won't try and second guess what I'm trying to say.

The real concern with T9 is that it removes the need for the youngsters to have to know how to spell correctly - a close approximation will do for the T9 to offer the right result. Children write less and less, so every chance they get they should be spelling in full, by themselves, IMO.

Never understood why people are so dumbfounded by predictive text.

As a concept it is simpler than "standard" texting.
How can something that puts up constantly changing (and wrong) words, be simpler than the user typing in the correct thing in the first place?

As a slight aside - predictive text can be switched off in the menus of pretty much every phone on the market.

I've had the 170-500mm since late 2007, It did take a bit of getting used to, but I've been pleased with the results so far. Two below for those interested.
