Why have people invested into a system like pentax and then sell of all there kit and change to another brand ?. Also has any one had another kit from another brand and changed to Pentax ?. Im just curious to find out the reasons why, good luck with your choice.

I have know idea may be their talent is not up to there expectations. So blame the kit before you have had time to learn how to use it and move on to the next, probably to sell that and try another.

People do what they do for an almost infinite variety of reasons - I don't think you'll get to the boottom of your question easily.

Because they want to, they are searching for something, maybe they don't really know what, maybe they do....

there's a K20d on a well known auction site. They say they have been with a pro photographer and he used Canon, so they are selling up to use canon too. I'm sure the money will roll in as soon as they have changed brands.

I owned a Nikon FM, my second camera, the first being a Pentax MX. I preferred the size of the Nikon to the MX. I think I bought one in the year Nikon changed the shutter mechanism from what I've been told. The Nikon gave me nothing but trouble, sent for repair 4 times under warranty, I went back to the MX after that. I considered buying a Nikon D200 at one point, but all that changed with the arrival of the K10D and K20D models, I already had a large selection of Pentax lenses. I just wish Pentax would produce some longer glass 400/5.6 or 100-400mm etc.

Regards,

John

Quote/I considered buying a Nikon D200

A freind of mine has two fuji s 5 pro which I think is very similar build to the Nikon D 200 and favours it over the Nikon D 3 for his portait work. He maintains the skin tones in his photos fron the Fuji cant be beat.

It wouldn't have quite the same meaning if it was a quote from "Doug"

Socrates has a certain ring to it

I'm sure I can recall instances where frustrated Canikon users have switched to Pentax (but that's different, right, cos they have good reason to!) Guess it's more common the other way round thanks to the magazines etc pushing the other brands as more 'pro'... Makes ya sick...

Personally I can't see the problem, if someone feels they need to change brands in order to get better photos then more power to their elbow.

They come, they go.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

I would lay the blame squarley at the recent disproportionate price-hike of Pentax lenses. Some Pentax users suddenly find themselves with kit worth a great deal more than they paid for it; and decide to jump brands without having to start from scratch again.

That's my observation anyway.
