Which is a huge url, sorry, if it doesn't work just check lidl's 'hi tech offers' from 02/08.

Anyway...1. would this have any use? 2. is the camera modelling the lamp a Pentax?...it's been genericised if that's a word, but looks kind of familiar.

In answer to 1, I've got a torch that has that pattern and colour of LED's, and it's passable to see by, but I would not try and take photo's using it as a light source.

That said, at £3.99 it's just over the price of a pint, so if you did take a punt it would not be the end of the world if you didn't find a use for it.

The link did not work but found the item, will it work with a K10d?

They have them on offer here too. €4.99.

Along with lots of "English" food and Hobgoblin beer. I am going to go, if only for the beer, but at that price I might get the lamp too.

Yes it will work with the K 10D - it is battery powered and sits on the hot shoe, but doesn't use it.

Lidl have done some very good beer deals recently...the £1 bottles of 'Red Kite' or something were rather nice.

Now if I can get a hot shoe mount for my handlebars...I'lll have a second use for it....hmm..off to google.

....ebay item 120524483929 gives me some ideas, sure I could make something to hold it on the bars...

How about a camera mounted on the handlebars like a traffic cop car or a parking warden ?

There was an discussing of using LED as the main light source.

The problem was they emmit quite some UV light and only a very narrow spectrum off light that means some (most likely most) colours would appear differently then they should even with white balance adjusted.

In the description it says that the colour temperature is 5500 Kelvin. It might be useful for video in poor light conditions.

But that's most likely the only colour it will output and that's the problem.
5500 Kelvin is blueish so what if you've red in your scene, the blue light won't make the red red

Here you see the difference it makes. link

Yes I expect you are right. It would be too good to be true if a device costing only £3.99 had no drawbacks.

7 Day Shop must be particularly proud of these LED lights -- they just sent me three identical emails touting them. They might be worth a go, for anyone interested in experimenting with this sort of lighting. link

I have several of these, without the mounting bracket but they do have magnets on the backs of them, good for sticking on the underside of your car if you are working underneath it. A sales rep at work was handing them out to whoever wanted them. I have never considered using them as photographic light source though.
