Does that void the warranty? Expect it means a greater level of creativity and helps you shoot off axis..

I've just picked up (from above) that Fuji X bodies can take pentax glass. How does it work? I presume some sort of mount modification? Sounds worthwhile and helps justify pentax lenses.

Thanks for this. I did try the right click and none of the options, including MSPaint, will produce anything except to see it as a approx 30 MB file.

I will try that recovery software as I still have the camera card in safe storage. The files are all of the DNG type.

At least we can see that some recovery is possible - unlike if you had an issue with roll film...

Hope someone can help em with this one? I had a card error whilst shooting with my K5. Media recovery software was able to find all the files but the raw files were named "~MGP xxxx" where they would usually be labelled "IMGP xxxx".. The file sizes are about right but if Photoshop Elements is asked to open the image file is reports it as an unrecognised document.

I have tried to rename the file under windows but it simply reverts to the version with the "~" as the first character.

Anyone have any ideas or experience of this happening. I do always fromat my memory cards in the camera and tend to repeat each time I copy the images to the PC as one way to have a "clean" card the next time the camera is used.

I have to say I'm not shaping up to do any wedding work and have nothing but admiration for the professionals who are brave enough to fight among the mass of phone snappers who must get under their feet the whole time. I think I'd want a couple of security guys helping if I had to be shooting professionally...!

Its great, of course, that pros will choose Pentax -perhaps shows their confidence in the man/machine partnership our marque offers?

So the 28mm on full frame is like the wide end of our standard zoom? As 2 of the adults were. shall we say, on the wider than average side I did wonder if it was the best choice. I used to think that 35mm was as wide as one would go back in the 35mm film days to avoid the risk of distortion but perhaps that's more when taking portraits?

I wonder if any wedding photographers have any views on the selection of lens for the family group shots taken outside a church. The question is prompted by my curiosity to learn from professionals. A friend purchased the images and the exif data was still there to be seen. The camera was a full frame C**** using a 28mm lens for a shot of just 5 people outside the church door. Are wide angle lenses the norm for these events, maybe to keep the photographer close to the subjects? In this case I should say that the client was totally happy with the photos taken and its only my curiosity that prompts this question.

I bought a variable own brand one from the 7day place. Its proving a good introduction to the added flexibility of longer exposures and as the main shots have been quite informal I will not say the filter is perfect but nor have I seen any deal-breaking optical issues.

The optics look like they might be cross polarisers but I'd presumed this is the only way to get a variable darkening of the filter glass. Is there a different way that is used by the more expensive variable filters?

The challenge for me with it is to "see" a street scene that gains something from the long exposures possible. All a bit hit and miss so far

I'm thinking of taking the plunge and joining a photo club. Ideally in the Leics/Notts/Derbys border area. Any thoughts/experiences gratefully received.

Thanks for all your inputs. As Algi said it's the real world performance that matters and so I feel I now have that from you all. Self build is very tempting but then so is the John Lewis 2 year warranty. I wonder if upgrading the ram or adding a second hard drive would void such a warranty?
