I'm really pleased that I choose the K10D for my first DSLR. I'm hoping that some more experienced users might be able to help me to get even more from the camera with regards to shooting amatuer football (from the touchline) in very low light. I normally use TAv mode so that I can control both shutter and aperture. Most recently the light dropped such that even at ISO 1600 I had to try to use 1/30th second (the results were mostly rubbish, the odd one could be charitably called "creative"). My lenses are Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 + kit DA lens. A monopod has been a help

I am thinking that a faster telephoto would have many benefits but also wonder if the camera's sensitivity can be pushed even more or will noise become just too intrusive if I underexpose and shoot in RAW mode?

I'd be happy to go with manual focus on the lens if anyone feels that I might be better suited by an older 35mm Pentax telephoto. I'd have to put an upper cap of £1000 on the lens.

Thanks for any help and to the regulars who make this site so informative.

Many thanks guys for your quick and friendly responses. I just hadn't thought about manual! Not so long back we always set flashguns/cameras to work manually. The joy of cameras like the K10D is that we can still go back to full manual control. It will be worth the experimenting just to get that extra creative lighting which the little slave unit offers.

Thanks again!

I have a K10D and a Jessops 360AFDP gun. Have just joined the User Group and got the mini slave gun intro offer. Anyone know how I can make this work?

Apologies if such a question has been asked before. I did search the many postings on here to no avail. Mind I did learn loads in the process and have been well impressed with the knowledge and experience of you all!

Thanks.
