Today's the day AP comes out with the test of the K10D. Tested by Damien Demolder.

As I live in NL the local newsagents don't stock AP, but the Canon-owning girlfriend is under strict orders to get me a copy.....

Hope it gets a good score!

The 24-90 is a superb lens, such that my Sigma 24-70 EX lies dormant....

Been looking at my photos from Hong Kong and the sharpness of the 24-90 is something to behold...

You're welcome...
Now, if you have a 24-90 SMC-FA lens on the front you have a wonderful piece of kit

'Appantly' on DG lenses Sigma have applied one or two special coatings on the rear elements to stop ghosting.....something digital cameras are susceptible to...

Pictures on my D and DL come out well on my non-DG 70-300 APO Macro and EX 70-200...., thinking of getting the EX 100-300 f4 (non-DG)...

For 100+ pounds more? I wouldn;t

Excellent photos chaps!!

Especially with the DL and 18-55 (mine will go when it's replaced....by K10)

I have for 2 years been to the US to try to catch it - New England last year only to miss it by two weeks (thanks to Katrina), this year in Virginia catching the beginning....

Hi Pwynnej,

We can always do a Part Exchange or Commission sale for your old kit if this helps.... We would advertise it in our AP advert and also on our website.

I'll bear this in mind thank you. However, even though my profile says I am from Denbigh, I actually spend my time between the Netherlands and London. Folks live in Denbigh, it's not the one near Bletchley, nor does it have any association with Denby Pottery or Dinbych-y Pysgod (ie Tenby) but the proper Denbigh in NE Wales. So I am not 'local'....as you'll guess but I would rather give my money to UK dealers and not Jessops.

Unfortunately, working for a Japanese company and sitting opposite a Japanese colleague who'd be happy to buy the lens for me in Tokyo, doesn't bode well (Japanese price is a shade under 500 pounds plus bottle of whiskey)....but I have other things on my list..

Chris - I will come and talk to you AFTER Focus - first I need to sell my *ist DL and selected lenses on ebay or in the classifieds.

I like the DL, not keen on the lens, but I need to make room for K10D plus it's lenses. I'm like a squirrel that collects nuts for the winter, I am also searching for a good Kodak Retina Reflex S and a Mamiya 7 Mk2.....

I am very tempted by the 77mm lens

But

I have to keep reminding myself I have a beauty of an FA 85 f1.4 at home.

Think some gear should go for an outing this weekend, Amsterdam on Sunday if the weather is good....

I really don't see much of a gap between the 50 and 80 (really 75 and 120), especially in the good old days most 'photographers'were satisfied with 3 prime lenses....

My recommendation would be to wait for the DA* tele lenses say the 60-250:
problem solved and the 50 still fits nicely in the middle.

I would be tempted by the 77 mm by the comments here, but with the FA 85mm 1.4 I am covered in that department (plus I have Sigma 70-300, 70-200, 28-105 that cover that angle).

The 24-90 is absolutely top drawer, but rocking horse poo in terms of availability. I would be tempted by the 16-45 but I await the DA* 16-50.
