Posted this image in the gallery but wanted some advice from lepidopterists. Comment Image
We have had a harsh start to the year with snow and frosts (minus 2 last night). Having a wander round the garden and admiring the snowdrops which have been good this year and there is a butterfly - A small tortoiseshell enjoying the nectar. A grabshot with the KP and Sigma 105mm Macro. So are there insect experts on here to advise? Is this a newly emerged butterfly or, with the ragged edges to the wings, some sort of survivor from last summer. Anyway, a nice surprise in Lancashire this early in the year.

Love number 1 - I think it is a cracker with the light on the foreground, subtle rocks in the pool and an interesting sky. A bit like golf, the more you practice the better you get. Well done.

Lovely image - really like it. Is it worth a crop to take out the top left? As I scroll down the page and remove the extra stem I think it strengthens the picture.

Fabulous images. Pick your own favourite and print it - most would make great wall art.

A variety of lovely photos there. I like in particular the low contrast grasses - very soothing.

I picked number 9 as my favourite image originally. Think Steve's crop is too much and just taking some of the foreground out gives a nicely balanced picture. Hope you were suitably dressed....

Thanks for comments which I shall take as compliments. Gareth, you raise an interesting suggestion. Obviously the pictures were originally 3:2 and I played around a lot when cropping. I do find 4:3 a relaxing ratio (and being an ex Olympus user). I did try and give a bit of space around the frame but will go back and look at the cropping again. Cheers, Peter.
