1 pixel...hmm, and I've let as many as 5 pixels slip by in the past.

We need an enquiry in all past competitions. I smell a size-conspiracy.
Ok, I better go and get tar and feathers prepared...

John, there are two images exceeding the limit. The other one by a shocking 1 pixel! If we allow that the floodgates are opened

No problem, Martin. Dutch and Deutsch are quite similar, not only by name.

Martin, I do know about Kleinbild, it's only that I'm pretty sure that there is a proper English term for it and it is unlikely that it has the same abbreviation KB. In that respect the Pentax WEB-site still has some German leftovers in the English part.

And in light of the "full frame" discussion it is quite adequate to remember that what is called "full frame" actually was the smallest of formats available in the old days.

That's right. And in the lenses the "System KB" I think is not common in English, or is it? I thought that the KB does stand for Kleinbild (small image). (That's probably also the reason why I don't get that "full frame" discussion as the "full frame" in that discussion only is the small image of Kleinbild).

What, blonde AND new to digital SLR? That rings alarm bells
I think it is quite common for D-SLR novices to find the lack of sharpness unsettling (sure was for me) at first. To get to the root of that I think we need the answers to some questions first:
1.) What camera body are you using? (Not of paramount importance but good to know to give some pointers to you.)
2.) Do you get sharp pictures with any lens at all (e.g. fixed focus)?
3.) Do you shoot JPG or RAW? If JPG, what settings do you use?
4.) Could you post some sample shots?

It's unlikely that you've lost the ability to focus (but not impossible, as you are blonde :wink

It could well be that you need to do some post processing to achieve the desired level of sharpness.

I'm pretty sure that you came to the right place to figure it out as there are many knowledgeable folk around here.

#3 for me as well. #1 and 2 follow shortly behind, in #2 I dislike the blown highlights around the sun.
Great series!

Gwyn,

your command of Dutch should be good enough to master the "Deutsch"

German and English is exactly the right mix for me.
Following the link to the Pentax site, though, it looks like they have cleaned up their act...
