Hi Dan, I've no problem with anybody posting a link to any of my pic's
This is tempting... Making some rude comment like "worst photo ever" (but covering that nicely under a puff of "arty" words) and putting a link to one of your pics next to it...

But no, I'm not giving in... must resist.... must resist....

Thanks for your swift judgement. I certainly learn a lot from the competitions. I will see if I can accommodate your suggestions (depends a bit on what the full frame looks like). Interesting selection of pictures again.

Congratulations to Malo1961, you hit the jackpot, fame and honour without needing to judge the next competition.

Commiserations to iceblinker, you nearly got the much coveted 2nd place. Maybe next time (i.e. in two weeks time). I'm looking forward to this weeks theme...

Lilly, Lilly, the things I do for you...
or should I say the things you make me do? Well all right, here is another "drab mono" shot.

Hmm, what a surprise: It didn't hurt

Welcome to the forum!

On the tripod issue here is an interesting article (can't remember if I found this link here in the forums or elsewhere).

It seems I'm going the old fashioned "waste of money" route and I'm on my second tripod which is a Jessops one (which was in the price bracket you quote IIRC). It's "sort of o.k." but it has some quirks so I might be on the hunt for a new one shortly (and thus underlining how right that article is).

Enjoy the forum,
Prieni

I'd heard about this too. I wonder if the press can release the info then or if they have to wait until the 24th(?) when the original announcement was to be made.

Maybe the bread and water diet will have to be extended and I'll get one of the new models
With bread and water diet you will become like a new model: very skinny
But only if you don't take too much of that bread stuff....

Martin,

keep cool! You are in the driving seat to take sweet revenge next week!
I suspected for a while that the real win is to get 2nd place in these competitions...
Not easily done, though.

Took me about 5minutes to work out why there were round leaves floating infront of dans building

I got it pretty quickly as I have a similar shot hanging in the corridor. I'm saying similar but it's not as good as Dan's, really

Thanks Dan for not sticking that one in earlier in the competition

I think it's fine. As has been said, there is a trade off between having three pics submitted and the size of individual pictures. Also I don't feel that chances are increased threefold as one picture below par can ruin the whole submission. So there are three chances to mess up as well.

As for the submission in question, without this thread I would have thought nothing about it as it shows a single building in all three parts of the triptych.

On a different note: Difficult theme this week. Not because it's difficult to find buildings to shoot or shots from the archives, it's the selection that makes it so difficult. I have at least a hundred shots that could qualify from my trip to Hong Kong in November. And then there are all the other building shots I like... Sigh... And a great start to this competition already...

Congratulations to Lilly (again ) and also to Martin for his sterling work on judging this competition.

With more and more entries submitted to these competitions the challenge really is to get second place (well done John!).

So I'm looking forward to the next one...
