Screw on Grads have always seemed a daft idea to me. I want to compose my image to fit the frame not have to it it to the grad.

Square type filters can easily be held in front of the lens for normal range exposures - without bothering with the filter mounting kit. But I have to say software generally does a much better job than a grad can manage for anything other than a very flat horizon.

Raynox provisionally sold to mike.
Arrived today in mint condition
Thanks Simon, a smooth & rapid transaction.
Lets see if I can manage some good shots with it over the weekend!

Hi Simon I'd like the Raynox, the 250 is a bit too strong for everyday use

On several forums I've had times when my browser didn't update properly when posting. making it look like I'd missed the post button, and making me click again (which posted a second copy) something similar could easily give cause for 6 identical replies.

Thanks Gareth. I think your right, loosing the gull & reducing the empty foreground would be an improvement.
I've been back for a couple more of their annual regattas since these where taken, but the light's not been as good 7 my location may have been less favorable as well.
Hopefully I'll manage quite a few more, but I was working last year.

I'm not sure about the latest Windows, but earlier versions just made up how long was left for the copy to finish It used to show something like 2 mins left the 30 seconds left then 5 mins left etc.

It doesn't just make it up but it does a VERY poor job of estimating it. From the behavior I've witnessed it seems to periodically update it's estimate based om the amount remaining to transfer & the recent transfer rate of that transfer. The sudden increase in time remaining you illustrated implies the transfer rate has dropped either due to other things the PC is doing at the same time or just from non continuous data making the file system jump around much more.

let's not get confused. I am not saying that the SR is bad, I am saying that the SR is allegedly bad if used when it's not needed.

Above a given speed, the SR is not needed, so why enable it? Your theory is that it shouldn't affect the final result, but if this was true, why Pentax suggests to disable it on tripod?
Like David I leave my SR enabled most of the time. It's not why enable it but why should you need to disable it. If speeds below 1/focal length are really worse with SR then the firmware OUGHT to disable it for these. After all the camera needs to know focal length for SR & known the shutter speed. This reciprocal focal length is an old guide for hand holding coming from a time when prints where normally only 6cm*4cm. Many sources recommend higher speeds for today's high resolution digital cameras - I'd be very disappointed if SR didn't help bridge the gap.

I am one of these endangered species who really likes the K-01 concept. Although I still have my original MX, 1970's retro is just not my thing.

It would be good to see a FF update but with added electronic view finder (remove built in flash). Grip apart, less girth to the body but maybe an aperture control ring incorporated into a distance flange might work. In contrast to the K-1, it would be best to keep it as simple as possible so that it appeals to a different market. (Or to those who, like me Algernon, like to use different cameras for different situations).

Available in yellow, black, white, silver and of course, smurf!

Not expecting a chorus of approval from anyone though,
There's no need to remove the flash to add an EVF (either optional or built in). IMO even a feeble flash adds a lot A pop up model can sometimes be used as a bounce flash too (this undocumented feature works with my Panasonic GF2 by simply pulling the flash backwards after popping it up - perhaps it would work on the K-01 too)

I always use the cable with my Kx, because I tend to find that SD card readers don't last all that long.
I've never had a SD card reader fail, the one I use on the desktop actually cost under 50p including postage the plastic covers come off it but it still works fine. it's actually slightly easier to get the cards in without the outer cover
Any of the half dozen laptops I use have a built in reader for the ultimate in convenience.

CF cards on the other hand are a right pain - I've known several adapters & one camera get killed by bent pins so I'd much rather use a cable if faced by one of those at workshop sessions. I've avoided them for my own hardware since my first digital camera ~2001.

Hello, no, P-TTL is only compatible with autofocus lenses.
Any idea why?
AF has nothing to do with the calculations needed for TTL. If the pre-flash is done with the aperture fully open then it wouldn't be accurate for lenses before the A series, but I can't think of any reason it shouldn't be available on any lenses with the A setting.
If the pre-flash is done with the aperture closed it should work for ANY lens.
