Another attempt following some very helpful advise that I have tried to put into practise. The following were all taken at approx 7ft in the following apertures with the camera flash at 1/180th ISO 200. All I have done is crop and remove noise and zoom to 40%. I prefer the first one can't lighten the last in a way that I like. Any suggestions? Should I have moved further away each time I changed the aperture, should I have changed the shutter speed or the ISO?

Thanks Stefan,

I am not sure I really understand all of what you have told me, but I will try and use it on Sunday when I try some portraits. Hopefully I will get it somewhere near right. It is a lovely lens

Stefan,

Thanks for taking the time to look its much appreciated.

Yes I did crop all of them. Information taken from Corel and PhotoMe:

Exposure 1/180
ISO 400/27degrees
I was using a tripod and was about 7 1/2ft away from the subject. I tried out various settings on the aperture ring and will try and remember which one I used. Sorry.

The thrid and fourth could be affected by the wind, but could also be overexposed.

I found that I had to change the custom setting just to get it to take a photo, so this really was uncharted territory for me. I took the bee just to see if I could. I love the rose bud but also the colour of the lilly.

None of your categories fit for me. I bought a monopod to take on my last safari. I didn't get one with it at all and ended up not using it. Also we were doing a fair bit of travelling and most of the time it was on the floor of the van with the others. However, at airports I tried to strap it to my camera rucksack. It got in the way and I also lost one of the adjustors! It was a fairly light one though. It would depend on what I was doing abroad as to whether I would now take my tripod. Sorry not much help!

Jeanette, what macro lens do you have?

I have a Sigma 105mm. Why?
I have absolutley no idea why I asked you that as it has no relevance to your original post. I must have been having a mad moment

Paul
No problem I should really put it on the bottom of my posts somewhere. Do you add it as part of the signature?

Hi Jeanette,
The SRS advert quotes £319 for a K200D- July issue what digital camera.

Hope that is helpful

Regards

Chris
The £300 I quoted was based on a phone call to SRS before I placed the advert.

If you had see the lengths I went to to even manage to get the shots you would excuse the composition Ther flower is about 7ft up an 8ft wall. I am 4'11". I had the tripod on max height with me stood on a stool almost on tip toes

Thanks for you comments though I will stick at it
