What Do You Do With Your Photos?

Hi All,

I was just wondering as we all end up taking so many shots, what do you do with them once taken? Apart from sharing a few of them on various websites. I have some of mine turned into a photo album and calenders and cards at Christmas, but a hardly print any off in comparision to the number taken. Its a bit of a waste really.

Interested to hear what others do.

A question that has troubled me as well. It does seem a bit pointless sometimes but then I get a bunch of shots I really like and it all seems to make sense again just for my own satisfaction.

I also have two walls covered in mounted prints.

A few years ago I came across some mounted prints I took 30 years ago and they still looked good and the kids were intrigued. They weren't family shots or anything personal it just sort of gave them an idea what their lazy old dad used to do.

Please dont tell me its dedication to your accountancy work for your clients that makes you get up so early or sleep so late , because if that is the case then you might be looking at an extra client. Now where did I keep that phone number for my accountant so I can call him and ask if he does the same for my stuff lol.

Yup, photos, I print some actually. In different type of papers, lately I have been trying the canvas type papers. I have some which are the imitation canvas type which are cheaper but then I bought some which are the real ones, but havent tried on the real ones yet.
Need to get a good decent printer. My brother MFC-660CN which is supposed to be pretty good just gets the papers stuck in there whenever I try to print any glossy or photo paper. Soooo annoying

I shoot in Jpeg and Raw, and when I get home from shooting pictures, I put my 16 Gig card into my card reader and plug it into the USB port on the side of my television, and watch the slide show.

This gives me a good idea of which shots to keep and which ones I want to discard.
I then download the card in my "My pictures " folder on my HDD,and all that remains, is for me to back up "My pictures" to my "F" HDD, so I have a permanent record, and then I can edit and adjust through Lightroom.

Sharing your images and getting feedback is very important, so why not post one a day on ePHOTOzine, which is intended for that, and you could also join a Photographic Society and enter competitions and get your images exhibited.

Reach out with your best work and it will have a purpose beyond personal satisfaction.

No not dedication to accountancy just the dawn chorus, excitement about being able to play with the new macro lens and a little trepidation about starting my new job tomorrow.
Re your printer I have a trusty Epson which prints pictures really well but I have had it many years and it needs replacing now

I really must print off some of mine, frame them and put them up round the house rather than show off other wildlfe artists work Mind unless I improve my macro skills then it will be a limited supply

Plus I am phobic about bees and wasps so today was difficult as everytime I heard a bee buzzing to close I either flitched or had to move I think I would be better with a super long zoom lens so that I can shot them from a safe distance

The majority of my photographs end up being sold!

I have my personal collection that periodically get turned into postcards and limited/open edition prints.

I have numerous hard drives filled with images.

There are two types of membership.

Standard membership is free and the size limit is no more than 600 pixels on the longest side, file size under 100K, if I remeber correctly!

e2 membership costs £29 per year and you can post bigger pictures, 1000 pixels wide, up to 400K file size, but as near to 200K as possible is preferred.

I have a Sigma 105mm. Why?

I joined a camera club about a year ago, and now about 50 of my prints a year get printed up to A3 size for competitions.

I think entering the competitions and seeing lots of other peoples work opened my eyes to different styles of photography, and improved my photography no end (Thats my view - you may think otherwise)

The structures of camera clubs in the UK is quite bureaucratic and hierarchical, a list of the various regions and their websites from where you can find lists of individual clubs is here http://www.pagb-photography-uk.co.uk/ - warning the websites are often quite poor, don't let that put you off.
Also try out quite a few clubs as a guest as they all have their own 'character'

I have absolutley no idea why I asked you that as it has no relevance to your original post. I must have been having a mad moment
