Thanks George you have reminded me why I left. I think you will find that I was the last to start any arguments. I really don't think your comment was neccessary or justified - however it was in character. I seem to remember your name appears in most arguments.

Gareth, if you are still interested in the lens I will price it and sell it to you if you agree.

I had a pm about one other lens which I will deal with directly.

The rest of the kit is withdrawn. I knew it was a mistake offering it on here.

Enjoy your Pentaxes

Gareth,

Not thought of prices yet sorry. Will let you know ASAP.

Mike,

The batteries all have Pentax on the back, the 2 D-L150s come in Pentax boxes, while the others are in Digital Video Camera boxea but still have Pentax D-L190 on the back.

Hi All,

I have not been around for a while but have been watching in the background. I left because there were too many arguments and they still seem to crop up regularly.

Anyhow, a lot has happened while I have been away including me buying a D700. Sorry but there you go. I was planning on running two systems, however, the D700's perfoemance in low light on a trip to Finland last weekend has convinced me to just use the one system. I have the following kit and would like to gauge if there would be any interest here before offering them for sale. I used my K20D as part exchange for a 70-300mm lens, so this is an option if there is no intetest at a fair price. I know everyone on here tries to get things at the lowest price possible.

K-7 Body - boxed all cables, manuals etc
SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm ED WR lens
SMC Pentax-FAJ 1:4.5 - 5.8 75-300mm AL lens
SMC Pentax M 1:4 200mm lens
SMC Pentax DA 16-45mm ED-AL lens
SMC Pentax-A 1:2 50mm lens
Pentax D-L150(b) batteries x 2
Pentax D-L190 battery x 2
Sigma 105mm 1:2.8 DC Macro EX lens
Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 APO DG lens
Sigma 170-500mm 1:5-6.3 APO DG
Vivitar 28mm 1:2.8 MC wide angled lens
Carl Zeiss Jena F = 28mm 1:2.8 MC lens

If there is sufficient interest I will offer under the appropriate forum with pictures and prices.

Thanks

Mike,

What a great picture. It has a really strange effect when you scroll down. Its almost as if the blurred part just keeps going with you and then when you scroll up again it is like it grows. Weird but clever.

Sorry Mannesty, this is something I could never do in a million years. I always seem to find that established groups can be very cliquey and being shy I find them hard to break into.

I have been keeping an eye on their website and it isn't making me want to rush out and join. I have picked up their programme of events and the Winter Meeting Programme includes:
"Flora and Fauna my way"
Competition - Street Life (I think PaulyRichard should join and win this one :lol
"From Pursuit to Passion to Profession"
"Balloons over Derbyshire"
"Audio-visual The Digital Way using Proshop Producer"
Critique Evening - projected image set "Rain"
"Architectural Through the Viewfinder"
Competition - Meal Time
Competition - Boot Sale.
amongst others. At £43 subscription I can't see myself joining.

Thanks.

The pictures weren't taken on the same day. As I said I just wanted a quick comparision and I knew what I had managed to achieve with the Passon Flower previously so used that as the subject matter.

RR, I don't think you are trying to be rude or clever. Thank you though for confirming what I already knew - that despite some people telling me that my shots are great, they are far from it and I have a long way to go before I can think of myself as a photographer rather than somebody who merely takes pictures.

Before yesterday I owned the K200D and the K20D. My main subject is wildlife and on my last safari in April I was made painfully aware of just how slow both these cameras are and so have been considering a faster camera for some time. I have not found the K20D an easy camera to use but have stuck with it despite not being really happy with the majority of my results, and sold the K200D. All the trips I do are photographic courses whether they are in the UK or abroad and all have a professional photographer there to guide and teach. I have also bought a couple of books on photography which I am going through. However, despite this I don't find remembering all the technical stuff very easy its just not my sort of subject, but little my little I retain a bit more. I haven't yet started to set up the K-7 at all. So the mistake I made was loading the pictures on here too early. I will not make that mistake again. I am motivated to practise which might be why I have so many images on my computer now. I am off now to set up the camera and practise some more. When I think I have a photo good enough to post again I will but it may be a long time coming so don't hold your breath

Cheers Mark, Amin and Scott,

It wasn't an easy decision as you know Scott. Even as I was in the shop I was considering not getting it and rethinking the Canon. It was the assistant that convinced me to stick with Pentax. He said he had gone through all the main makes and believed the K-7 was a good competitor to the main 2. By the way all the data is with the photos on Flickr. As I said I have only had it a few hours and wanted a quick comparison to see if I had made the right decisoion. I know which one I prefer.
The K20D is on ISO 6400, F32 speed 1/320.
The K-7 is ISO 640, F8 speed 1/80.
I might try a true comparison once I have worked out how to set the K-7 up properly. Its a lot lighter than the K20D and smaller which I also like, if it is faster than the 20D then I will be happy.

Hi Everyone,
I did something reckless today. I went out and bought the K-7. I have been umming and ahhing for quite a while and was even considering buying a canon. However, the cost of new lenses as well as a new camera made me see sense. Anyhow, I have only had it a few hours and it will take a fair bit of getting used to, however, I wanted to give you all a comparision between similar shots taken with my K20D and the K-7. You can then tell me if I have made a mistake. No processing has been performed on the new image just cropped out a stray leaf. Both taken with the Sigma 105mm Macro.

Hi Dave,

I saw this on the news tonight! Lovely shot. They showed it being demolished by a JCV. Shame really all that work.
