Unfortunately not, you can't see it from this part of the UK. I'd love to shoot it though so if you get any good pictures please share them!

I don't know how far South that this phenomenon can be seen but I think you have to be way up in the North of Scandinavia, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Arctic etc. or similar cooooooold place.
Are you planning a trip to one of these places?

I'd imagine Estonia's far enough North, as long as you're in an area with little (or no) light pollution it should be OK.
The Northern Lights could be seen all over the UK prior to the Industrial Revolution, when the country was (mostly) pitch black at night. Probably not as impressive as it is from Greenland though...

Saw the Northern lights almost every day/night for 6 weeks! With totally sunless days it added some interest to the trip. I at sea off the north coast of Norway and around Bear Island for all of January and part of February a few years back. As my company was paying for processing, I did get a large number of pictures but cannot find any of them at the moment - the whole trip is "missing".
They are impressive and well worth getting to see if you are in te right areas.

We are planning a trip mostly for children - to Lapland. Father X-mas etc....you know the stuff.
I hope so much to "get sth for myself" as well. photos.
But I am a beginner, and too often I realize only later on, what mistakes I made.
Thats why I asked
And the children do not let me "dissappear" with camera. It is almost like stealing the time.
I read with fear from the forum that batteries do not survive too long either....
Thinking of taking a ZENIT with me as well.
I even do not have a tripod. I guess this is a need.
By the way, 7 or 8 years ago we had fantastic aurora in Estonia. All the sky was covered. People were all walking outside! But another tiny one I semember only from a 30 years ago.
