I have reservations about naming them on two grounds-

1/. It could put this fine Forum in an awkward position.

2/. The matter has not been resolved yet.

Latest update - It seems that the price has gone up since I bought the camera.

They now expect me to pay the increased difference.

Sorry if this seems a daft question, but what are you aiming for when you take a picture?

Are you trying to record something faithfully, or are you trying to produce a piece of art?

To give you a little information, I have for most of my life been an engineer. I deal with facts and rules and appreciate it when problems are that simple. I have no artistic bent or talent.

Another of my hobbies is Hifi. Here, I face a similar dilemma. Am I trying to reproduce an accuratecopy of the original sound or am I trying to produce a sound I like? Paradoxically, I tend toward the latter.

What are you trying to achieve by taking a photo?

My first is "E", My last is "E", and there is only one letter inside.

Fortunately, the holes are confined to the crumpets, not the ducks. If the ducks had holes thay would sink.

If the ducks were placed in a lead lined container it would be impossible to tell which was in front of the others. Schroedinger was uncertain about this.

If jam made from strawberries is called strawberry jam, and jam made from raspberries is called raspberry jam, then why is jam made from oranges called marmalade?

It was the feel and weight that did it for me. I decided probably irrationally that I did not want to be part of the CaNikon OC. I have an Olympus OM1 which is a truly fine piece of engineering. I bought second hand in 1985 from a pro photographer and it has proved Oggyproof ever since. When I came to digital, I looked at the E510, but it just didn't feel right. I had done some research into other makes and had noticed that the K20 was substantially heavier than most, and as soon as I got my paws on it, I liked it.

I too have reservations about AVG. I have had nasties get past it, but get intercepted by Spybot S&D or Windows Defender.

A proper hardware firewall in your router/modem is a major step forward.

Good point about the mount. How about self amalgamating rubber tape wrapped around the joint?

I would try that right now, except I just sold my K10D! ...To pay for a K20D - which I'm looking forward to very much.
Self amalgamating - a great idea, but how will he get it off after ?
A small thermo-nuclear device should work

I also have some engineering experience on PCs and I am surprised by (but do not dispute) the negative comments about Vista.

Normally when a new version of something as complex as an opperating system comes out it is very buggy, but it gets sorted out in reasonable time.

The only exception I can think of was Windows ME which was a dead loss.

I run XP on my PC. It was a bag of spanners when it first came out, but these days I have no problems with it at all.

One of my edicts is "Never fly (in) the MK1 version of anything", and under it, I have not moved to Vista. The bottom line is that my current complicator does all I need of it so there is no point in upgrading. When it breaks, I will build a 64 bit system, and that puts me in a quandry with OSs. XP64 is actually well proved, but there is a shortage of driver software for it. Vista would have been the logical choice, but if it's this bad---

Ho hum

Ive just been looking at it and I cannot find any settings for timed updates or an "update now", but mine is an evaluation copy, so it may not have an update facility.

Out of interest, how are you getting on with Norton? I used to be a Norton enthusiast until 2008 when they changed it and it took over the PC because it was clever and the user wasnt

Possibly checking for updates? Some programs do from time to time.
