Borislav, when I came to digital 3 years ago I had the same problem, lack of split screen viewfinder. The hexagon and beep arehelpful but I always found the display a bit hard to see. I ended up buying a split screen. For what it's worth, I did switch back to the normal screen about a year later, ie it gets easier.

^^ I think that's about right. P1C* groups, yes it gets views up but you do have to ask yourself if it really means much when someone cuts and pastes a (usually bad) graphic. better than nothing maybe. What I do like though is genuine encouraging feedback. It's maybe a bit pathetic on my part but I just got this which, when it happens, means the world to me in terms of motivating me to keep trying: "World class macro/focus stacking! This is utterly superb work, I'm a professional microscopist and one rarely sees macro work of this calibre! Many thanks for adding me as a contact, wow was I in for a treat when I checked out your Photostream!! Looking forward to looking through the whole lot." Now that's really really nice of someone, I'm not a member of a photo club and I just flit in and out of forums without posting much... so this is where Flickr is something that helps me.

You tend to get better feedback on forums than you do on Flickr although you can use views and favourites as a gauge. Ie if I get a lot of views and a lot of people favouriting a particular photo I know it's probably ok. In terms of more views, seek out and get to know other like minded people on there. As in if you're a *obscureSubject* nut do searches to see who is posting a lot of *obscureSubject* photos and engage with them. Also, do some QC. Post good photos, don't bother with mediocre.

I wonder if it's a browser thing. It doesn't occur on my ipad but does on firefox. I've submitted a report.

Hello,

Macro covers all manners of sins from a closeup to extreme macro. Can I make a suggestion, go to flickr and choose 25 shots you really like and you envisage yourself doing. Then look through the exif data and see what they've used, then work from that to find a used or cheaper alternative that'll do the same (ish) for you. Don't forget the humble Raynox-like closeup lens, although there's a not inconsiderable snobbery towards these they produce cracking results with the benefit of being able to still control your settings through the camera!

I have ticked the 'stay logged in box', but when I click on referrals from my flickr account to a thread here I'm logged out (but it remembers my username etc). So I click the login box on that thread... and it makes me go to the forum homepage.

REALLY ANNOYING

Can it make me go to the thread I was in please, like every other forum in the world? It is unbelievably un user-friendly.

What is the rationale behind this?

Thank you
