With my 720 converted Pentax K-r, it is not always easy to get the optimum exposure. I don't know the technicalities but scenes often seem to have a very wide dynamic range of infrared light, so that it is easy to get the highlights poorly exposed.

As the scenes are usually quite static, chimping and viewing the histogram in the camera show when an adjusted reshoot is necessary to get a more balanced exposure. The histograms (in PC software) of the three images shown here indicate varying degrees of under-exposure.

I also like number 1, but slightly prefer number 3. Which lens(es) were used?

As Steve has commented, it is personal preference and in 3 and 4 I would prefer to see more detail by lifting the shadows. In an image like number 1, I would try to enhance the sky:

Sorry Gary, and thanks for explaining. My ageing brain is probably a bit more addled at present in this dreadful heat! It just seemed to be too negative a title for such a good image.

Cheers.

Great shot of a great plane (but don't understand the title).

I had my old Pentax K-r professionally converted several years ago and, including postage, it was around £270 then. So, if the one for sale has been recently converted, it's possibly not too unreasonable, bearing in mind current charges and that the conversion includes, as Chris has noted, a full CLA.

I agree - the first is a good image.

I particularly like numbers 1 and 2. It's like one in a previous set, in that there's something attractive about seeing the rocks both above and below the seawater.

I am still a novice with a lot to learn too. However, here goes -

As an example, consider Image 6 which has a lot of bright fluffy clouds. I would expect there to be 'white' tones in them, but there is very little in the right-most quarter of the histogram:

A simple tweak to alter this (moving the white point) gives an image which looks more realistic to me:

As a general comment, and it does of course depend on what you wanted, for me these images look under-exposed for what seems to be a bright sunny day.
