Great shot of a great plane (but don't understand the title).

All comments appreciated.
I went to Whitby on Saturday knowing that the Red Arrows and Lancaster were making appearances and got nothing due to weather.
Yesterday I went to Elvington to photograph some large RC planes and didn't know until I arrived that the Lancaster was due to make an appearance again, as it had on Saturday so hence I get shots when ignorant of the planned events and don't get them when I'm aware and building up expectations, only to be disappointed.
I suppose the title could be better though.
Best regards

When at Masham Steam Rally, I'd gone to photograph motorcycles and didn't know that the Lancaster would be making an appearance but got some good shots of her.Great shot of a great plane (but don't understand the title).

Sorry Gary, and thanks for explaining. My ageing brain is probably a bit more addled at present in this dreadful heat! It just seemed to be too negative a title for such a good image.
Cheers.

Lovely shots, it's been a few years since I've seen the City of Lincoln flying.
Got the light in the right direction too.
Actually I was at the De Havilland Museum in London Colney on Saturday. Humidity too low to allow the Hangar doors to open unfortunately but wonderful to be around classic aircraft. Images in my Flickr.
There was a documentary on the Lancaster recently (on 5 IIRC), superb!

No apology needed Philip, on the contrary, my assumption of people understanding my thought process was lacking some what (as often happens).Sorry Gary, and thanks for explaining. I recently went to a local fete because they had a Spitfire flypast. I had just got a new K-3 III the day before and I thought it would be a good test so I got down there in plenty of time and waited.
The sky was perfect as the plane flew over two or 3 times, I had already got my settings dialled in but I had decided that I was going to get some really good prop blur this time so had the shutter speed set at 1/125th.
On reflection pointing a brand new camera skywards hand held with the 150-450mm on and not having shot any aircraft for a couple of years was asking a bit much and every single shot was out of focus.

New kit first time out is always a challenge! Great expectations don't help the technique.
Just thought I'd add two links for the Kangaroo logo on the Lanc.

Nice image! Love seeing this in the air and the noise she makes, it brings a smile to your face. I get sharp planes but no prop blur here, it's my nemesis!

Yesterday, I went to Whitby Regatta and the Lanc didn't show as there was too much sea fret (fog).
Today I went to the Large Model Association at Elvington and found out that the Lanc would appear late afternoon!
I only had my K3 and 55-300mm with me and a 4K video camera.
Very warm at 33'C but worth the wait.
Best regards
