I was in Gran Canaria a few years ago and got pestered by every dodgy camera shop owner who spotted the Pentax strap around my neck. When I got home I discovered there had been a massive bust of fake kit.
My wife did manage to get a good deal on an Optio S4 many years ago, but it took her a whole day to beat the guy into submission to actually sell the camera. It seems the trick in use there was he had one Pentax, one Canon, one Nikon and a massive stock of cheapo knock off crappy things, and he was trying the old bait and switch.
It's not worth the hassle.

The big problem with the rear LCD and possibly an EVF is
that it uses a different aperture to what you are using
on the lens..... so DOF could be miles out. You could have
f/1.4 on the lens and LV is using f/11
This also makes focusing difficult.

Don't get me wrong, even having looked through the highly impressive EVFs on recent Olympus's I still wouldn't give up my Pentaprism willingly, I just don't think this is a useful line of argument.

That's a shame really, the new HD limited lenses are getting superb reviews and three of them are already tested on PU. See the pane on the right.
The tests on PU so far show lenses which break the Y-axis on their MTF graphs, but I haven't checked if that's new compared to the SMC versions.

RAW files have never been totally 100% RAW as a certain amount of processing is needed to make sense of the Bayer grid info and merge it into a full colour image at every pixel site.
You are correct that some processing is necessary though, the signal from the sensor itself is analogue (a voltage) and must be converted by the A/D converter.
