Their camera kits on that site are only very slightly less than is available in a normal shop here in the Netherlands.
Given the low VAT (and the fact you have to pay duty on goods from there on return to the UK) I am not sure there are any bargains to be had there.
And yes although the Canaries are part of Spain they have special status, with lower VAT, and the ability to purchase duty free goods there, which means the rules for importing from non EU countries applies to things you buy there.
The site also only seems to have one Pentax lens available.
I don't think there is any money to be saved buying gear in the Canaries tbh. Just go and enjoy all that Gran Canaria has to offer photographically apart from for purchasing things.

I had a friend who bought a Canon camcorder from what looked like a reputable shop in Tenerife. A few months after he got home it failed so he took it to Canon to have it repaired, they said...
It's not a Canon! There was nothing of the insides that the guy recognised.
Be careful

I was in Lanzarote a year ago and checked many, many electronics shops for camera gear and didn't find anything I considered good value. There were quite a few old film cameras but they were over-priced.
Aside from photography gear, I also hoard (and use) minidisc gear. There was plenty of old MD gear available too, and not the newer models, we're talking late 90s. In short, the electronics shops are a real blast from the past and I wouldn't buy anything I thought likely to need repair under guarantee.
The only thing I did find was a couple of rolls of the now-discontinued Fujicolor 100 in 35mm. It's nice stuff, I still have one roll in the fridge, and I wish I could get more. However, at €4 for a roll of 24 exposures, it wasn't cheap.

caveat emptor
I was in Gran Canaria a few years ago and got pestered by every dodgy camera shop owner who spotted the Pentax strap around my neck. When I got home I discovered there had been a massive bust of fake kit.
My wife did manage to get a good deal on an Optio S4 many years ago, but it took her a whole day to beat the guy into submission to actually sell the camera. It seems the trick in use there was he had one Pentax, one Canon, one Nikon and a massive stock of cheapo knock off crappy things, and he was trying the old bait and switch.
It's not worth the hassle.

I'm off to the Canary Islands in a few weeks.
Electronics used to be cheap, anyone spotted any Pentax lenses in Las Palmas? Anyone heard of this? http://www.visanta.com/
