given the price of Sandisk cards from Picstop I really don't see the point in buying anything else these days.

A lot of the cheaper cards are very good for the price and very reliable (I have had very good service from my keymem and danelec cards from 7dayshop) but since the expensive cards are now down to <£20, you may as well just get the extra speed and peace of mind.

glad to see they are sticking with Cameras. Part of me is sad to see the demise of the measuring equipment branch since I always thought the R300 series was the best low cost total station out there, at least on paper, and that's coming from a die hard fan of Leica surveying kit. Still surveying kit is very cuthroat and Pentax was an even smaller player there than they are in Cameras so it is probably best for them to get out and concentrate on what they are good at.

I wish you'd post large photos as links like this all the time - it's the only time I ever get to see the whole thing when they're in portrait orientation, since the browser resizes them automatically, whereas it doesn't when they're inline. I'm sure I'm not alone in having a monitor with a resolution of 1280x1024, and in not having the patience to constantly copy it elsewhere so that I can see it all.
I agree with this, I am even more limited since my monitor is 1024x768. Poor computer has been neglected somewhat in recent years since my Photography, Fencing and shooting hobbies have taken most of the cash.

Try this. With the flash on the camera. Take a shot. Now cover the entire red area with your hand and take another shot. The exposure will be way different. Not exactly the same thing, but I think it shows that the camera is not involved in the metering of the flash.
are you absolutely sure you are set to PTTL mode? this sounds more like the result one would expect from a flash in plain auto mode to me, which I suppose is your point, but the whole point of TTL and PTTL is the camera does all the metering.

thats very odd, my K10D only produces names of the form IMGPxxxx. I would suggest there is something wrong with either your camera, memory card or card reader if you are using one.

do the files open correctly?

in fact, since the MZ-60 is peculiarly picky about which lenses it will work with, the K10D is actually compatible with a good deal More lenses than the MZ-60

the MZ-D was a working prototype and they cancelled that, so I wouldn't be overly shocked. Disapointed yes, but not shocked.

645D can't really be called an "intermediate" camera though.

I wonder if Ben will cast any light on this

but how many people buying K100s are using them professionally?

I'd say few to none.

I bought my K10D because of the SR, 9 frame buffer and controls, in that order. the increase in resolution did not enter into the question even though I have several lenses which can make good use of it.

well my car is quite old and solid, so perhaps your challenge should be to park it legally and without doing damage to other peoples cars in the process
