the 80-320 is one of the better consumer zooms, some will argue that the Sigma APO is better but given that you already have the 80-320 I'm not sure it would be worth the upgrade.

Save your money until you know what you really want. Then save your money a bit longer and buy quality glass. Buy cheap, buy twice.

For what reason would the camera use the internal temperature?
I'm going to see if I can make it 2 for 2 and say noise reduction. Temperature effects the noise produced by the CCD so perhaps it applies more NR at high temps?

Or it might be a thermal shut down to protect the camera if it overheats. Actually the latter is probably more likely although less impressive.

just a guess but does the camera stamp its serial no into the EXIF?

If so there must be some software to allow you to sort by an EXIF field of your choice.

Or a really simple one if you have more card space than you need, set one camera to DNG and one to PEF.

Do we get photographic proof???
I'm hoping you won't need it.

No, we wont, because Satan will fly over riding a flying pig wrapped up in his winter warmers.

I for one plan to have my 300mm Tamron at the ready, that will make some photograph!

Depends what is meant by "digital lens". Some have a reduced image circle (which causes some vignetting on a film camera*), some are full-frame and are only called "digital" because of the coatings.

* In some cases, I understand, it's just at the wide end of a zoom. Apparently vignetting isn't a problem on a film camera with the DA 16-45mm from 20mm onwards.
quite true, I should have made that clear. See, even those of us who should know better get confused!!!

Ice is right about the 16-45, and the 18-55 is also more or less fine from about 24mm onwards. The 50-200 on the other hand is sub full frame throughout its range (although it does have a somewhat oversized image circle for APS-C).

The safest assumption is that Pentax lenses called DA anything (other manufacturers have their own designations and confusion increases still further!) are only suitable for digital cameras.

another thing it is important to realise is that the differences between "digital" and "non-digital" lenses are largely marketing spin. There are some improvements in glass coatings and digital lenses may have been re-designed to reduce the dreaded purple fringing, but in terms of what is and is not in the picture, and what is in focus, your 135 pre-digital lens is exactly the same as a digital optimised 135 if both are attached to the same camera.

if you go to the silkypix download page here

http://www.isl.co.jp/SILKYPIX/english/download/

and scroll down past the link to shortcut software, you will come to the silkypix free edition download links. They are designated by a green background to the link.

Silky free edition is somewhat limited compared to the paid version, but is still a step up from Pentax Lab. Pentax browser is very handy though as Iceblinker mentioned.

I can't help you directly, but it's really got to be the teleconverter if the screw isn't engaging with the TC but does when mounted directly.

Even discounting the forum member thing, he's still a nice guy and likely to do you a deal on the body + 50-135. Lets face it, thats a high value sale and he's unlikely to tell you to take your money somewhere else.

Selecting exposure modes was a delight:

If you moved the shutter speed dial away from 'A' and onto a specific speed, you were in Shutter Priority.

If you moved the Aperture ring away from 'A' and onto a specific aperture, you were in Aperture Priority.

If both were away from 'A', you were in Manual.

Put them both on 'A' and it was in Auto (program).

If you think about it, this is more or less what we now call Hyper-Program. Amazing how yesterdays "well that's just how it works" turns into tomorrows "super duper new feature!!"

DOF preview is another example of the same thing. No DOF preview on an M42 camera, it just happens automatically.
I dont want to be pedantic or picky but the Spotmatic F gave full aperture metering and DOFP was achieved by pushing up the button that used to switch on the meter on the earlier Spotmatics.

Ken
my point was that before open aperture metering (i'd forgotten the F) DOFP wasn't a feature, it was just something that happened when you stopped down to meter.

The fix to put this back after open aperture metering broke it then became a pro feature for which you paid a premium.

Not saying OA metering is a bad thing, just an observation.
