which lenses for D200?

I have recently purchased a D200 with the kit lens 18 to 55. I do have an older 80 to 320mm (35mm) smc penatx FA 1: 4.5-5.6 but it is very long and heavy and I not sure how good it is in the scheme of things, but I dont know much about them. I also have a 35mm 28-80mm SMC Pentax FA1: 3.5 -5.6. I am not sure on the quality of these lenses or whether the older 28 - 80 wil be better than the kit lens, althoguh the kit lens does seem OK. Any suggestions for upgrading these lenses. I will probably stick with the kit lens for now at least, but would like a better lens to replace the telephoto zoom. I dont want to spend a fortune though!

I believe the D200 is made by Nikon. Did you by any chance mean a K200D?

I did indeed, Pentax K200D

The Pentax 80-320mm is a well respected lens. The Pentax or Samsung 50-200mm makes a decent alternative if you want something much smaller and lighter. Or for something more similar to the 80-320, but a little bit lighter, there is the Tamron 70-300mm LD Di.

re 18-55 and 28-80: Just stick with those for the time being untill you have clearer ideas yourself as to what to upgrade to (if anything). What is "better" is largely a matter of personal preference.

the 80-320 is one of the better consumer zooms, some will argue that the Sigma APO is better but given that you already have the 80-320 I'm not sure it would be worth the upgrade.

Save your money until you know what you really want. Then save your money a bit longer and buy quality glass. Buy cheap, buy twice.

There is no cheap, good, 300mm lens.
