I think you have answered you own question to a degree George

Here it is, in full:

"Three months ago, I bought a new camera. The first pictures were dire, but I read and reread the manual, asked questions in some photography forums, read a couple of books, and now I think I'm producing some reasonably good pictures. It's been quite a learning curve, but I suppose Rome wasn't built in a day"

Hi - It is not very heavy, is very sharp and easily hand held. Used it on a Safari this year as it it weather/dust sealed!
As for price, I paid £900 18 months ago. I think it is now around the £1100 mark but I have not checked recently

Well there has been some interesting reading regarding the Spotmatic variants and their characteristics. I have just picked up a Spotmatic F. When it arrives there will doubtless be more questions. Oh it also comes with it's manual and a "Never" Ready case...

I have one of these link and it is quite useful for the candid shot!!

This 90° mirror adapter allows 135 ~ 200 mm lenses to be used to shoot at 90° to the lens axis.

Also, does the rule of thumb shutter time (for hand-held exposures) should be no less than 1/focal length apply equally to both a, say, 6x7 and 35mm lens, so that for both a 200mm 6x7 format lens and a 35mm format lens, the handheld shutter speed should not exceed 1/200 sec? :
My understanding is that the shutter speed (Hand Held), should be at least equal to the focal length of the lens - well it works for me
