Have not noticed any on my one. Will keep an eye on it. Many thanks for bringing this to our (and my) attention.
Kind regards

I would advise K5 owners to photograph a uniform white surface at f22, or higher.

Also move the camera while taking the pic so you know for sure any anomalies are not external

I do agree with this Tim! I think acting sooner the better, as they would likely be wanting to eliminate this problem immediately, so that the good reputation about this great camera will not be spoiled so early.

Photo at f6.3 There is a blob just to the left of the London Eye and just below half way up. I first thought it was a snowflake:

Crop. It is clearly visible between two pods:

Plain paintwork f36, full size.

Crop. Note also the arc of marks above:

It is definitely the same mark it is in the exact same location and is reproduced in the same place when the camera is moved. It is less noticeable at lower f stops but becomes very apparent the higher the ISO. This looks identical to the marks reported on the other forum.

Seems to be a manufacturing problem when the sensor is fitted at Pentax then.

I have an identical blob to Dr Orloff.
I'm not sure what to do - I don't shoot plain walls very often, I don't shoot at F22 very often. I could clone it out. But - why should I? I can't bear the thought of sending it back and losing it for months but it seems to be a manufacturing error which Pentax should correct.
What do you suggest? What are you going to do?

Hi just checked mine at F22 0.6sec at 5000iso using a 50mm 1.4. All clear by the look of it, even when enlarged. DrO, do you think that is a good enough test?
I would advise K5 owners to photograph a uniform white surface at f22, or higher.

I've checked mine, and I DO have some of these marks but mine are quite faint. I probably wouldn't have noticed mine if I didn't know what to look for. Some of the guys in that thread have a huge black mark which is easily visible in a full frame resized to forum size (check out JThommo's waterfall pic on page 3)!
There is some speculation it will get worse if the sensor heats up a lot - i.e. you use the video function a lot. So it's worth keeping an eye on it.
I'm going to just live with mine for the moment, I almost never shoot below f11 anyway, but if it gets worse I will contact SRS about a warranty replacement.
