I consider myself very lucky to have assembled a large array of lenses over the years, mostly Pentax, but at the end of the day, what do you want to shoot. Landscape, Macro, wildlife or out and about type photography - you go for the best lens you have, in your kit, for the job. As has been said, sometimes too much is made of the build, the glass, the aperture etc and the camera settings. At the end of the day, the good photograph, the excellent photograph is down to technique and skill and practice, practice, practice. That is why we log in here, to learn those things from each other and see some of the results

After I bought the 10-17 Fisheye on this forum, I "LOOKED" at Ltds for a while - Got one - the 77, and the 35 Ltd Macro just seemed to appear next...

I have one of these lenses, The K 85/2.2 Soft and I find it ideal for creating that "Different" Image. Can achieve some unusual effects, from a soft, misty effect, to a very sharp image.

The collector strain of LBA is a bit like malaria: You think you have recovered - but it's in the blood now!

Thinking of buying a Pentax Spotmatic and was wandering if there was anyone out there who might have advice on what to, and what not to, buy. There seem to be quite a few versions. Also what common faults to look out for and maybe faults that do not take to much in the way of ££s to fix?
As you can see nor research done (at all) yet...

Ah - the mighty Enfield. Knocked a young Oggy clean off the butt first time I fired it.
No ear defenders in them days - just some 4x2 stuck in the lugs...

Thanks for the comments everyone - much appreciated. As has been said, I think the photograph shows that we can still enjoy the simple (Expensive!) things in life...

Problems with age:

Switch on K7 - Battery shows full - faint buzz and camera goes dead
Switch on K7 - Battery shows full - faint buzz and camera goes dead
Concerned
Moves switch from off to on rapidly a few times to "Loosen up sticky contacts!"
Switch on K7 - Battery shows full - faint buzz and camera goes dead
Oh bother - how much to have that fixed.
Could be terminal - K5!!!
Why not put memory card back in camera and close the SD Card door

Works fine now - Doh!

I've just had a thought. When putting an extension tube and a filter ring together why take the filter glass out of its ring? As we use filters on our lenses (most of us) why not leave the filter glass in situ? Looking at various cheap sets of extension tubes am I right in thinking that they have an adaptor ring with the male bayonet and a female thread. Which means the actual tubes have a male thread which needs to be removed first before the filter ring can be glued to it?
CHEERS Vic.
That's exactly it Vic. Take the shortest extension tube, remove the lens mount half and then glue the filter ring into the space left. I used a glue designed for sticking metal.

As for removing the glass - well I suppose there is the option to leave it in. But certainly remove it whilst the gluing process is going on - save messing up the glass. I still have the remaining two bits of the cheap tubes I bought to do the job. Will have a look this evening and see whether the second "middle tube" of the set would convert to a flash mount. If so - might be able to put one together for you if interested :
