Could have sent it back after the holiday, if it was not up to the job- but not if you are away for two months.

My first impression was that the K1 was considerably bulkier than the K3 but came to believe it was largely illusory. Looking from above the smaller LCD against the larger top surface and bigger pentaprism made it look bigger than it was. It is of course bigger front to back but side by side with a K3 there wasn't enough difference to be any concern. It slipped into my smallest case as easily as the K3.
Both viewfinders were impressive and any fear that the articulated screen might be a fiddle to use soon evaporated. A gently press and it slips back into position.
With the 24-70 it is noticeably heavier than my K3 and 16-50 but it was still comfortable to hold.
The big question for me is what to do with my K3 + K3ii combination. Will it work having a K3 and a K1 as a pair? Not sure. Would retaining the K3 and 16-50 as the everyday kit and the K1 for anything special soon see the K3 relegated to second best? And if that is going to happen I can see the APC-C stuff all going.
Suck it and see I suppose but with a great deal of my work done in poor light the promise of better high ISO performance is hard to resist. (I haven't.)
