I also want to inform you guys that Pentax Sweden has updated the K and M lens info on their lens compability page with "metering errors may accour" (for those who read Swedish);
http://www.pentax.se/index.asp?url=http://www.pentax.se/default.asp?cat_id=416
So it seems like they are not updated/aware that this is NOT related to just K and M lenses, but has to do with the fact that as soon you are using the aperture ring, the camera makes the error. Doesnīt matter if you use the aperture ring on an A or FA lens. Or stop down a M42 lens.

As said above, What were Pentax thinking? They must have recognized this as the green button is there....
I only have manual SMC lenses (six) exept for the seventh, thats the 35/2 and I must say I feel cheated on, as the promo told that whatever K-mount lens there is, it would compatible with the camera. Wrong exposure in a camera made in 2006?

The A 70-210 is the only one of the three that has a constant f4 aperture through the zoom range. The F and FA are both f4-5.6.

And would the FA 70-200 be able to compete with those above?
Thanks,

in that case you don't want the FAJ 75-300 either, it has no aperture ring so wont work in any useful fashion with your KM.
As I said the 80-320 is very happy on a K1000 so should work wonders on a KM. It's focus ring is rather loose by comparison to MF lenses, but it's useable.
And now.......off to eBay....
Thanks again guys!

Moongoose hit the nailīs head when bringing the analog issue up. I still have my KM and Iīd like to be able to use my tele zoom "to be" on the old girl as well. In fact, I have quite a few SMC lenses but none of them are D-lenses.
As for the SMC Takumar, its a great lens. But a bit too tricky to shoot birds and stuff with, sa its a manual focusing lens that requires stop down metering.
Anybody whoīs selling an F or FA 300* lens?......

FA 100-300
FA 80-320
FA J 75-300
Which one would you gor for? Or should I stick with my SMC Takumar 300/4?

The M* 300/4 is one of the smallest lenses in its range (in company with the A* 300/4) and once I first saw one I couldnīt belive it was a 300mm lens....
Prices seems to have increased on these gems lately (K100D/K10D effect?) and when finding one, they are almost always over 500 GBP.
BTW, did you see this one? 1800 USD.....

I haven't actually tried any of this out as the only M lenses I have are 50mm which are attached to old MF bodies that I learnt on. As I've got the same focal length in AF there's no need to use the older lenses on the K10D...
If you donīt want to hook your old manual 50mm to your K10D (which I donīt see the reason for not doing) youīre quite able to check this out with your AF 50mm if it has an aperture ring, as this is a problem with the camera and not specifically for old lenses.
My brand new FA 35/2 gets the same metering error results if using the aperture ring in manual mode, but works fine in the A-settings.
