Well I guess there is no right answer then....
Still, I suppose nobody hated any of them , which is a step in the right direction.
Thanks everyone.

That's a great angle on that shot. must have been a big lens as they usually don't like to be that close near the ground!
I'd like to see a portrait version too as it might be easier on my eyes ( or brain) !

Thanks Aiki. That does help balance the picture.
But.... after looking at it again it looks even less like a windmill that it did before.
I guess this teaches me to take a wider insurance shot after my attempt at "artistic framing" so I can reframe or crop it differently when I get it home and realise I've messed up again.....

RR, there is a a bit more detail under the roof but I wanted the high contrast look. (The colour version of number 1 looks fairly flat and boring to be honest)

I suppose I could play about with these with a bit of fill or selective HDR but I don't do much post processing as I haven't really got the time ( or experience if I'm honest). Same reason I haven't fixed the corners of the colour one yet. Thats why the B&W is slightly cropped - it's quicker!

I think the whispy clouds in the B&W number 2 are what do it for me. It just puts a bit more interest in the top left compared to the colour one.

Barrie, I think it's just that the polarizer is almost twice as thick as the normal filter so it shows in the corners at 12mm. I don't have a UV filter for this lens yet but some people do recommend buying the (expensive) ultra thin type, others say it isn't necessary. But the front element does stick out a long way so I'll feel happier when the UV filter turns up.

I think going a bit wider on the left of number one would have helped.

Thanks for looking.

Like the second one much more. The diagonal is much more appealing. She'll love it. (Don't know if it was intentional but)You even managed to get the word loving reflected on the inside of the ring.
I'll gloss over "to kill" on the other side.......

Took these on a recent visit to the Isle of Wight. Still learning how to use the 12-24. At the wide end it seems to be a case of when you think you're too close, take another step! Took the first one for the shadow but now I don't feel it has the impact I was expecting. Perhaps because you can't see the sails so it isn't obvious what it is. ( Though that's often a good thing!) Should I have gone a little wider?
The second one I took with a polarizer (you can see the edges of it on the colour version, oops) but I think I prefer the B&W version.
Any thoughts on these?

Well it's hard to make a comparison as they are different flowers in different light, but it's certainly sharp enough.
Besides, I can't see anyone being disappointed with the K-7!

I must say I am surprised to learn lens 2 is the DA* 16-50 . I really didn't expect that lens to be so good.
I'd be tempted to let the 31Ltd go...... to fund some other lenses

Ok I'm guessing 31 and 35 ltd's .....

Well number 1 still does it for me. It seems a tad sharper and at 2.8 the "bokeh" on the 7 of diamonds looks better. ( shallower depth of field?)
But I wouldn't feel handicapped using either one!
Ok,
spill the beans........
