The high end sony's are quite good the low end ones, not very good at all really . In my opinion the high end panasonic's are very good and the LED backlit LCD Samsung tv's are also very good. Plasma screens can tend to look noisey up close but historically had better black performance than LCD screens. ( LCD blacks were dark grey) But this is changing, slowly on the whole, but the LED backlit LCD Samsung tv's produce black levels on a par with the best plasmas and good old CRT's.
I have to say you should seriously consider a 37" or 40" I know they sound huge now... but they won't if you start looking at HD on them, nd most native 180 screens start at this size. You can find smaller 1080 screens but they are few and far between these days.Do get a 1080P model as this will have a native 1920x1080 screen so it won't be resizing the pictures so the HD quality will be better.
DO make sure you see normal tv on it as they will resize normal tv to HD and frankly some do it a LOT better than others. After all you will be watching it in this mode most of the time!
Many of them will also display your photos and some even have a card reader slot for this puropse, which could be a useful feature for a Pentax user! ( Your photos will look stunning on a HD screen!)
Go to a GOOD tv shop or a department store like John Lewis where they have most of the models on display side by side.GET THE EXACT MODEL NUMBER of the one you like best. ( then check the internet for the best price.)
Like Oggy, I've been trying to get a shot like this. Hasn't worked so far. Haven't even come close
Spill the beans then....Is it done "in camera" or two combined shots, can't see the exif so... what were your settings and how much PP, if any, was involved?

I can't help feeling I want to see more detail in the jetty and tree line in the rainbow shot, but it's a stunning rainbow shot none the less.

Go here for some more info. This guy had a broken hotshoe but he mentions this pin. ( with photos)
I'm sure I saw another how to fix this thread somewhere else too so may be worth Googling this.

£599 does seem rather high ...
Dave
Pentax really do have some strange marketing ideas.....
I know it's traditional to charge RRP when a new toy hits the shops, probably to stem inital demand until production ramps up but they would sell a lot more of them and hence tie people into the k-mount if they released the product slightly later (after stockpiling the inital production run) and knocked the £150 off the RRP at the outset rather than droping it to that or offering cashback after a few months.
I know several people who were persuaded away from their perferred camera choice purely because the inital price was too high. In fact a work colleague , who already has a Pentax film camera and wanted to buy the K-x was persuaded to buy a Canon 500D last week because he could get a better deal! Pentax offer a lot more features (for the final street price) compared to the big two and if they got their launch pricing strategy right they could make serious inroads in the sales battle... ( IMHO! )

Having said that, I'm perfectly happy with my K20 and I think APS-C sensors are more than adequate for 99% of photogtaphic needs. However I would like to see better low light performance and less noise and I'm sure in time this will come. (Probably only a couple of years away.)
FF sensors generally offer that low light performance and lower noise and can offer that now. It's no accident that photojournalists largely use FF cameras. If Pentax want to play with the big boys again, they probably need a FF presence in the market. That along with the 645D would make them very serious contenders indeed. (Although it is uncertain where they are pitching that in the medium format world.)
However, Pentax or whoever owns them at the time will need to pour a lot of R&D money into beefing up the lens stock for all three ranges. Pentax are sadly lacking in the fast lens department. They could largely fix that by rolling out the old film lenses again but things have moved on and fast autofocus is a must for pro cameras. With the right backers Pentax could do it as they have consistantly proven themselves to be one of the great innovators in the photographic world. Without it they would seriously overstretch themselves, financially. In any case a concerted professional marketing campaign would help enormously as their current products are more than a match for the opposition.

The K-x is getting very, very, good reviews particularly in respect to picture quality. And it does video which might be a useful option occasionally. It is also a nice compact size if that is of interest.
On the other hand you don't need to break the bank to get a K20D as they are roughly the same price as the K-x at the moment.
For that you get weather sealing 14.5MP and more costomisable controls than you can shake a stick at. But it is quite a big camera ( and no video).
And at US prices I'd be tempted to push for the k-x or K20. If you were new to digital i'd say go K-x but coming from the K100 I think you'd get more out of the K20.
