I know many of you may have taken advantage of the recent Amazon offer, this is not one of those lenses. I've had it a couple of years and I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it. I have a Sigma 150-500mm to cover this focal length which produces images of sufficient quality for my purposes.

Only small particles of dust are visible when shining a torch through the lens. As this is a weatherproof lens, they could have been there from manufacture. There is no fungus, no damage to lens elements.

Full technical specification can be found here.

£679.00 incl postage via RMSD to a UK mainland address.

The lens is supplied complete with original box, original front and rear lens caps, hood, and soft case S120-210.

NOTE: The lens will be posted to the purchaser on or shortly after 16th January 2013 during my next visit to UK. It will travel back to UK as part of my hand luggage.

This lens is in exceptionally good condition with no visible signs of use, to all intents & purposes it looks unused. I can see only very small dust particles inside it and only then when shining a torch through it, there is no fungus, no damage to lens elements. It's in 'as new' condition.

This lens is arguably one of the best macro lenses at the 100mm (or close) focal length and gives true 1:1 (macro) magnification.

Full technical specifications can be found here.

The lens is supplied complete with original box, front and rear lens caps, and soft case S80-160.

Reason for selling: I have not used it since acquiring it as I have the D-FA version which I find a little more convenient when using a ring flash.

£279.00 incl postage via RMSD to a UK mainland address.

NOTE: The lens will be posted to the purchaser on or shortly after 16th January 2013 during my next visit to UK. It will travel back to UK as part of my hand luggage.

Interesting idea. Care to share where you found the K-01 "ridiculously cheap"?

That has got to be an extremely impractical method for dealing with many hundreds, in my case thousands, of negatives.
I wouldn't want to do it with thousands of negatives...
I only shoot about one film a month, almost all of it 120 film which is difficult to get scanned (impossible here), so I photograph them all with a single shot, and if they look good on the computer I will try multiple shots stitched together. If I start shooting a lot of film, I'll probably buy a scanner.
Understood. I was thinking that it might be a viable process for a low volume of larger format negatives, but not the masses of 35mm negs that I'm sure most of us have.

I'd be interested to see some results from this method though.

Pentax offers two file types for the firmware upgrade to the K30. If you download the .zip file, it'll need to be extracted to the root folder of your formatted SD card.

If you downloaded the .exe file, it's self extracting. Just double click on it and read the instructions.

Copying either one of these two files to the root folder of your SD card will have no effect whatsoever.

Both the .zip and .exe files will yield a file with a .bin extension. It is this .bin file that needs to be placed in the root folder of your SD card.

Which sort of body mount cover do you use. I think the plastic one tends to fall out ?
The translucent white push on body cap is meant only for shipping, not as a body cap.

The black rigid plastic caps have the K mount bayonet fitting and are much more secure. The newer ones even lock on, necessitating the pressing of the lens removal button to remove them.

Not quite identical. The rack on yours appears to be of a plastic material similar to my Pentax Bellows-A set, the one in Barrie's link looks to be metallic. There are other differences too, but it does look very similar in design and the few differences I can see can easily be attributed to model versions.

Good find Barrie.

That picture was not there when I posted. So what year is it clever clog's?

I've no idea of the year Barrie, I've never seen one before. Cool piece of kit though.

I'm wondering if it's been put together (very well) by using bits of Pentax kit.

For example, The box like piece with the Pentax name on it looks like it might be the sticky out lens mount from an old Pentax camera. Curiously though, the same box like part at the other end doesn't have the Pentax branding, unless it's underneath and we can't see it.
