It's possibly fair to say that SRS might not get as much trade if there wasn't a Sainsbury's car park just across the road.

Well the SRS retail model seems to work in tandem with their web business. Just goes to show what can be done when you get a team of good people together.

Perhaps there'll be an SRS in a High Street near you some time . . .

Competitive pricing, and you can go in and try stuff out if you live reasonably locally. Y'know, like in the good old days.

I go to Watford to try stuff out . . . and I live in Spain.

I've had my K5 for well over a year now, nearer two years, and it's seen regular use with frequent lens changes. I've never had to clean the sensor yet.

I have the sensor cleaning option set, so it gets cleaned of non-sticky contaminants every time it's switched on.

Thanks OP & others.

Hubby has downloaded and installed Photoshop and Premiere onto our Windows 8 machine + had a quick look and no compatibility issues so far.

However, as I suspected won't open PEF files. Is that to be expected due to age of product and we need to covert / use DNG or can something be done?
PS CS2 relies on an old version of Camera RAW which has not been updated to include support for image files from modern cameras.

I can confirm that it will open DNG files from my K5 so you could convert all of your PEF's to DNG with their free converter.

One reason to use older lenses is simply that they are not made in the modern format.

Lenses having a long focal length in particular.

An older Pentax-K 500mm lens will cost a fraction of the current Pentax 560mm lens (when it's actually available).

An unused 1000mm 1:8 lens sold on eBay recently for around £450.00, a DA version of that lens would need a mortgage I think.

I think it's fair to say that some older lenses are every bit as good as their modern equivalent, but at a fraction of the price.

I've been comparing the studio test images on DPREVIEW of the three K5 cameras. The K5IIs images do seem a little sharper than the other two, but as it's £130.oo more expensive (SRS) I think I'll go for a K5II.

It's the AF improvements in low light that I'm interested in. If it proves to be as good as people say, I'll have wasted £800.00 on a Sigma 70-200mm lens when the DA* 60-250mm 1:4 I already had would do nicely.

Thanks Neil, but I rather suspect that Mark meant the £599.00 price that Amazon were selling them for a while ago.

I'll happily accept the current Amazon price though.
