If you haven't got a K5ii or K%iis, is it really worth doing it, I have downloaded it but reading the website I am wondering if it is worth the bother?
A resounding YES.

Even if you haven't got the 560mm lens(has anybody?), any changes included in "2. Improved stability for general performance." will be of benefit to all owners.

Interesting that contrast AF ( through sensor ) has needed a FW tweak for the 'mortgage requiring' DA 560mm
Quite, I doubt there's many here that will see the benefit of this update. I'm not sure that the lens is even available yet.

The date and time an image was taken is stored in the image file itself. The camera can't do what you require, it would have to be done in post-processing. Maybe even your printing lab can do it for you.

There are probably plugins/add-ons/apps available to do it, I have no knowledge of them but I'm sure others here will be able to advise you as to which of them might suit your needs.

Pentax has released firmware updates for the K-r, K-5, K-01, K-30, K-5II, and K-5IIs cameras.

This update addresses:

1. Optimized contrast AF when using [HD PENTAX-DA 560mmF5.6ED AW] lens.
2. Improved stability for general performance.

Go to this page: http://www.pentax.jp/engl...ort/download_digital.html and download the appropriate update for your camera. Follow the directions on the download page for the particulars of your camera.

It's a Bromeliad (Bromeliaceae). It's in the same family as the Pineapple.

I used CaptureOne some years ago, then I found Pixmantec, a very good RAW converter which Adobe eventually bought and incorporated it into Lightroom 1.0. As a registered user of Pixmantec I was offered a free upgrade to Lightroom 1.0 and I took it. I haven't used much else since and have upgraded LR at each major release.

I'm happy with LR's workflow and exceptionally happy with its adjustment tools and output quality.

I very, very rarely use the full blown Photoshop (CS4) and if I wan't anything arty farty, I use one or more of the plugins from Topaz Labs.

I have no desire to check out any other RAW converters, though many do exist.

Which printer did you go for? I'm thinking of doing the same as I'm currently using an ageing Epson R800.

The battery should not have suffered any damage, but its impossible to tell really, until you've charged it with perhaps another charger and determined for yourself whether it's OK or not. I'd suggest that if it still powers the camera, it'll probably be OK.

If you have an airing cupboard or similarly warm place, put the charger in there for a week or so to dry it out, then try it again.

I won't be able to give it any real world tests until I get back home Mike. I should be able to spend some time putting it through its paces next week.

Racing for the 2013 season at the Cartagena Oval starts on Feb 10th so I can check out it's focus following in low'ish light then as well.
