You can download trial versions of all of the paid-for editors like ACDSee, Affinity Photo, On1 PhotoRAW, Lightroom, Photoshop, Capture One, but quite honestly there is no one package that 'does it all'. Lightroom + Photoshop is a brilliant combination and would probably suit 99.9% of your needs, but so would On1 PhotoRAW 2020 + Affinity Photo or Topaz Studio 2 + their AI plugins.

The best thing to do is to try one fo the free ones like Gimp or RAWTherapee to discover what can be achieved.

You'll also need to consider whether to shoot RAW or JPG but that's a whole new discussion. FWIW, just shoot RAW.

Is the K-1 II a significant improvement on the K-1?

The 50-135mm DA* would seem to be ideal for what you need.

Unfortunately that's what happens when an obscure subject is chosen I'm afraid. I know I couldn't think of anything to contribute from my archives so it would mean taking a new image and processing it. Perhaps if this was a subject for a monthly comp., some of us might make the time to construct an image to suit the title, but with only one week I doubt people would take the trouble.

Nigel's last post on another forum was end of March 2018. His last login here was end of April 2019, perhaps he's enjoying a photography hiatus.
