Belinda, that's a great shot just as it is. Well done.

. . . to all of you who have not filled in the 'Location' field in your profile.

It is sometimes helpful, and always interesting, to know where in the world you might be.

We don't need a full street address and post code, just a town, county, or even just country will do.

Thanks,

See, I said you'd like it.

There's no image size restriction in the general forums as far as I am aware, only in the Competition forum.

We do have a 'Your Photo's' section though, which might have been a better place for these.

Bokeh and contrast are very good. I like the dog pics.

No problema, you're welcome. Enjoy the camera and post some results.

There has only ever been V1.0 (all K10D cameras except the Grand Prix are shipped with this version from the factory), V1.1, V1.2, & V1.3

All updates are cumulative, V1.3 contains the fixes released with V1.2 and V1.1

Just follow the instructions to install version 1.3, you do not need to load version 1.1 or 1.2 first.

What's the right word, then, for "creating an amusing alternate meaning by transposing two letters in a word"?
Easy, that's a 'snooperism'.

Using flash for macro work is not mandatory. With the right flash setup the lighting is more even with shadows reduced to a minimum. This tends to reveal some parts of the subject that you might not otherwise see.

If the lighting is right, you don't need flash. You can always use a reflector and available light to 'fill' areas of shadow.

Try changing the viewing angle if it is an LCD screen.

Otherwise perhaps your monitor is kaput
It is an LCD screen, a Samsung SyncMaster 930MP . . . and it isn't kaput. It's Spyder calibrated too. Viewing angle seems to make no difference. Strange. Even more strange is the fact that my printed images are as faithful to the screen image as I think they can be.

I'm not overly bothered about it, more curious than anything.

I find this quite helpful in determining how good the "resolution" of whites and blacks is.

Ideally you would see the ones in the black and the white area (here at work I can see the white 1 and black 3 (but it's depending on ambient light, of course)).
I've seen this 'test card' before and on seeing it again:-

The left half is completely black on my monitor but I can see all of the numbers on the right (white) side. The number one is very feint.

I've tried tweaking brightness & Contrast to no avail.

Any ideas?
