If you can't stretch to that, then the Pentax 540 flashguns can generally be had for around £50 or so on Ebay

If the author of a post had a different meaning, other than the actual words he/she typed, why not change it to reflect what was actually meant?
If, on the other hand, somebody is abusing this privelege, a (textual) slapped wrist is in order via PM, or temporary/permanent suspension perhaps?
Am I the only person who's noticed an increase in slightly venomous postings of late?

One word, beautiful.
The rigging in #3 looks a bit of a nightmare, not a job for the faint hearted.
It's all very logical, and if it weren't, there'd be a lot more of these vessels at the bottom of the sea.

(Sailed the Atlantic in 1974 on a barquentine built for the Baltic trade. There's nothing like taking in sail at the top of the mast at two in the morning in a thunderstorm where you are 100 ft higher than anything else for miles around!)
PS: Thanks for the subliminal spelling correction George.

I actually like 'the big picture', #1 for me.

You will not however be able to use the flash's TTL capability as it's not supported by your camera. You'll need to use it totally manual, or one of it's 2 auto settings.
Set your camera to M on the exposure mode dial, shutter to 1/125 - 1/180th, aperture to f8 or f11 and take a few test shots. Use your histogram to adjust the aperture to get a good exposure.

SRS Microsystems (if that really applies to cameras) seems to have combined both retail and internet sales very well with internet pricing backed up by product knowledge and service.

For lenses that should last you a lifetime, barring accident or other misfortune, stick to the SMCP-A series for manual focus, SMCP-F or FA for auto focus.
An SMCP-A 50mm 1:1.7 would be a good one to start with. The SMCP-FA 50mm 1:1.4 is a dream and is my best recommendation depending on your budget.
You maybe just missed a bargain 43mm Limited lens from JohnMcD for £165. He's the guy with a faulty camera, so he's selling off all of his expensive lenses .
