What do they mean by a "USB dock"?

USB usually means Universal Serial Bus, iirc.
Quite correct, the Sigma USB dock facilitates firmware upgrades, AF adjustments, and optical stabilisation adjustments for Sigma lenses. It connects to a PC/MAC via a USB cable, hence its name.

The dock is camera mount specific with the Sony & Pentax mount versions being introduced first (I think).

Quote from the software help file:-

WHAT YOU CAN DO IN SIGMA OPTIMIZATION PRO

It is possible to do the following operations in Sigma Optimization Pro.

Lens firmware update - Lens firmware can be updated to the latest version via the internet.

Lens customization

Focus Setting - Focus can be set at each of 4 shooting distance ranges for fixed focal lenses, and each of 16 ranges (4 focusing distance ranges in x 4 shooting distance ranges) in total for zoom lenses.

AF Speed Setting - AF speed can be selected from 3 modes (only available in lenses with a custom mode switch).

Focus Limiter Setting - Range of the AF drive can be set (only available in lenses with a custom mode switch).

OS Setting - For the Optical Stabilizer, 3 unique view modes are available. This offers the most suited OS (Optical Stabilizer) function for any shooting style (only available in lenses with a custom mode switch).
However, it's only of use to those who might have lenses from the 'new' range as this note states:-

Quote:
Firmware update and customization using this software can only be operated on lenses from SIGMA’s new product lines (Art, Contemporary and Sports), and not on older Sigma lenses or lenses from other manufacturers.

Image IQ looks superb, albeit with some purple fringing. That adapter is surely going to influence the effective focal length, isn't it? It looks like an extension tube/TC.

Nice detail, but which FF? Has someone converted a DA to Canon mount or suchlike?
Did you look at the photos? The first one gives more than a hint at 'which FF', it actually shows you which camera was used.

All sorted now. The Daily Record site has been changed.

I emailed the journalist who has apologized and will try and get an apology printed in the next edition of the paper as well as changing the credit on the Daily Record site. I can't ask more than that. It appears that my images were 'doctored' before they were sent to the paper.

Have a look at the EXIF data and tell me what I missed.

Here's the image I sent:-

If the Hamilton Advertiser bought the image from you with all rights then, other than the lack of ego massage by way of a byline, what is the problem?
They didn't buy it from me Ken. I took the photo of the young biker recently. When he asked for a few images for a newspaper article, I gave them to him on the condition that I get an 'ego massage', not too much to ask I thought.

As the kid is only 11 I quite suspect that probably his father dealt with the paper and gave them the photo(s).

. . . about the press deliberately cropping images to remove embedded acknowledgments, like these below, and 'forget' to acknowledge the photographer

. . . we have lost some Pentax users to full frame over the last 12 months or more . . .
I think the answer there is, a few will need fill frame, many more will want full frame, but not need it.

The many may have more money than sense and will vigorously defend their decision to move to a FF camera/system, but the truth is, unless you are a serious professional photographer who puts IQ before Mp, you are not likely to need a full frame system..

The Nikon D4 at almost $/£6K has . . . 16.2MP. Who needs more?.
