Incidentally, I performed an inadvertent cold conditions performance test of the K3. I can confirm it works perfectly well with a crust of ice over one side of the camera in sub zero conditions (estimate -9 C)
If you check your EXIF data you'll find that the camera records its internal temperature.

In general, I like what you've done with this image. or images. There is a fair bit of halo'ing around the dogs ears which could use some work I think.

For the record, it makes zero difference to me that the image wasn't taken with a Pentax camera, and the fact that it wasn't shouldn't attract comments suggesting it should.

I have had all of the DA* lenses except the 200mm. With the 60-250mm there seemed little point in having the 200mm as well apart from it's faster aperture.

I sold the 300mm because it was getting very little use and used the cash towards a K-5 II.

Whilst I still have the 60-250mm, it's max aperture of f4 is too limiting for my winter nighttime motorsport needs and I now use a Sigma 70-200mm 1:2.8. I'll be using the 60-250mm again in the summer daylight for its image quality which only very slightly beats the Siggy.

I still have, and regularly use, the 16-50 & 50-135.

Ahhh, I remember this old chestnut.

Oddly, I made these images for a talk on macro that I did for my local camera club in January.

I don't have any UK coins, this is a 2 Cent (0.02€) piece. Look at the crowned M (no idea what it means) to the right of the right hand tower, it's approx. 0.8mm wide.

All images taken with a Pentax K-5 II and are uncropped. I wanted to show the different DOF effects so these are taken at 45 degrees and lit with an AF540FGZ and Stofen diffuser.

This first image was taken with a smc Pentax-FA 50mm macro lens at its closest focussing distance, magnification ratio 1:1.

This image was taken with a 28mm lens reversed on to approx. 250mm of extension tube & bellows. Magnification ratio (you can measure it on your screen) is approx. 9:1.

A blood moon appears as part of a total eclipse where the sun passes through the earths contaminated atmosphere and illuminating the moon with red filtered light.

A hunters moon appears red simply because it's low in the sky and you are looking at it through our contaminated atmosphere.

We had a blood moon in Spain on 3 & 4/3/2007. This is the best I could manage with the equipment I had at the time.

You are shooting a moving target so shutter speed shouldn't be too long. I got my best shots between 0.5 and 1.5 secs. This image was at 1.3 secs, f5.6,ISO 400. You are going to be very hard pushed to get a fast enough exposure at ISO 100.

My Super-A is still running, bruised and battered from many mountain days.

I had it from new (1986) and the Program-A is very similar apart from the lack of shutter priority, no TTL flash and a top shutter speed of only 1/1000s.
Both are similar in size to the ME,MX etc but they do mostly used lithium versions that would last until I remembered to change them - two years or more.

If you can get a good super or program A I'm sure you will like it.
janybthanks l have spotted one for £18 and was pondering whether to buy it or not
Just be aware that the seals will likely need replacing. Not too difficult, but you would need to factor in the cost of a seal kit.

That's the main reason I passed on it Steve. The seller looked a bit astounded when I took the lens off to have a look inside the mirror box. I should have bought it anyway, the lens was worth more than he was asking for camera and lens together.

I have the very similar Super-A. My biggest problem with using it is that I wear glasses and the Super-A has no diopter adjustment. I imagine the Program-A is the same. Diopter adjusting accessories are available though.

I found a Program-A + SMCP-A 50mm 1.7 lens at a boot fair a couple of weeks back. The guy wanted €20 for the two. I passed, and regretted it very soon after.

MIke, the catch in focus system only works with manual focus lenses, or lenses that have an MF/AF setting set to MF. It won't work with AF lenses even if the body is set to MF.

I was editing my post above when you posted yours Mike. Read the amended version. If you are using SR turned on, that might be the cause of your blurry images.
